Returning to nonprofit after break, what's changed?

Hi, I left my previous role in an international development non profit (UK charity but global scope) last May and moved into the public sector. We were hit pretty bad when USAID was dismantled and I sought a more secure role and also used the chance to move out of London.

Recently I find myself more and more wanting to get back into non profit fundraising for international development. Its only been 1 year plus a few months but wondering if this group has anything to share for what might have changed in the sector I need to be aware of for applications, interviews, etc?

I appreciate funding is always competitive, oversubscribed, etc, and due to global events thats probably only gotten worse, but I still miss using my time to try and make some progress against bigger picture challenges than my current role offers.

Thanks for any info and pointers in advance!

WWYD: Suspected stolen bike den

I live in England and there is a house on our street that is some kind of HMO/council operated shared housing. I walk past it daily and their gate to the side garden is always open. You can clearly see a number of bikes propped from the street, these change on a regular basis and cover all types of bikes - mtb, commuters, road bikes, cargos and even a tandem.

I have no solid proof these are stolen, but given the nature and lack of care observed it's quite likely. Wondering if there is some action that can be taken/evidence gathered to put this to a stop?

I have tried scrolling through stolen bike listings but the lists are endless and it is hard to identify where the bikes have originated.

I have a pair of Reynolds 853 forks made by thorn cycles which are a fantastic product all round and I'm super happy with them. I was toying with the idea of putting luggage on them in some way. As there are no rack mounts I called the manufacturer and they advised the forks are not designed to take any load at all.

My backup idea was to put a randonneur style rack mounted to the cantilever brake mounts but even this suggestion was shot down to the weight added to the forks. I appreciate the advice from Thorn but am a bit confused that a material as strong as Reynolds 853 was not advised to take any load at all.

I guess my idea of putting luggage on the forks won't pan out, but I may look into handlebar mounted bag systems instead. Has anyone any knowledge of why this might be with details they could share for curiosity please? Likewise if you have good handlebar bag recommendations I'd be grateful to receive them, many thanks!
