How to get advertised MPG?

I've been driving our new Hybrid MAX for almost 2 weeks now and am not getting anywhere near the advertised MPG. Now, my drives have mostly been short drives around town, school dropoff, etc. Hardly any highway. We've put like 300 miles on the car so far and I'm struggling to get above 21 mpg.

Now, this is my first hybrid so maybe my driving style needs to change a bit? I don't have a lead food. I'm in Normal drive mode. I try to stay in the "eco" range on the tach, between charge and power, and I like to try to stay in EV mode when possible, though it's difficult. Not much hard acceleration. Feels like i'm doing something wrong.

The only thing I can think of is that the heatwave we've had in the northeast recently is affecting it. We always have to have the AC blasting with the kids in the car as it's been like 100 degrees.

ALSO - is there a way to see MPGs per TRIP? Now i'm not talking about the current drive/time in the car. I'm talking about TRIP A and Trip B. My Accord lets me see TOTAL MPG, as well as MPGs for TRIP A and TRIP B. The GH appears to only let me see Total MPG and "CURRENT DRIVE" MPG, which they name "trip". It's confusing. Current Drive MPG is a bit useless imo.

Brand new GHH infotainment randomly going black

Really annoyed as we took delivery of a GHH platinum max today and we’re already having issues. The infotainment screen just goes black randomly while driving, and won’t turn back on until you turn the vehicle on and off.

The screen is also randomly leaving CarPlay and going back to the regular map screen for no reason. Something is clearly bugged.

The car has 6 miles on it. I don’t even know where to start with something like this. I’ve never had issues with a new car before. What do I do? The dealer is an hour away, though I do have a local Toyota dealer.

EDIT: I think I have identified the issue. We realized it was only happening when it was connected to my wifes iphone, which is a bit older and on an older iOS. It wasn't happening at all with my iphone 15 on ios26. Gonna update her software and see if that helps.

Memory seats question question when car is off

We picked up our GHH today and the memory seats is being weird. My wife is much shorter than me so she sits super close. I went up to get in the car, hit my seat number, and nothing happened. Car was off still, but the seats move when you hit the normal movement buttons. This doesnt seem like the correct flow. I should be able to change the seat before getting in the car, otherwise i physically cannot get in

Third times the charm. Fresh from the factory. Picking her up on Thursday.

Our GHH purchase saga is nearly over. This is now the THIRD vehicle we've put a deposit on but thankfully it is the last. First one was a Nightshade limited in in cement that was due in at end of month. Ended up bailing on that one after driving a Hybrid MAX and wanting that powertrain.

Next we had a deposit on a Black GHH Plat Max which just happened to be on our local dealership lot when we stopped by. Put $500 down and planned to pickup the next day, but overnight decided we didn't want a black car. Just didn't want to deal with the hassle of keeping it clean.

Then I checked the Toyota inventory site and found a unclaimed GHH Plat Max in cement, with the black wheels (which wanted but was hard to find in the max), arriving at a dealer 40 mins from us in a week. Cement was the color we always wanted. Put a third and hopefully FINAL deposit down and it finally arrived yesterday. Having the dealership put the black emblem overlays on the rear. It's over. It's done. Cheers.

Has anyone bought the OEM blackout badges and installed themselves? Was it easy?

Trying to decide if it's worth going through the dealer for this or doing something cheaper myself. Also, is the rear toyota logo included with the emblem package? Or do you need to get the nameplate one as well for that?

Went in to test-drive a hybrid limited - left with a Platinum Max that someone just happened to not take delivery of that morning

Been going back and forth for a while now between regular hybrid and MAX. I have a Nightshade Limited reserved at another dealer due to arrive at EOM, but have been getting the itch for the MAX. I hadn't driven it yet and my local dealer somehow had both a Hybrid Limited and a MAX Plat on the lot. Very rare around here. Went over to test drive both, and it was clear right away that the MAX was the one for us. Dealer offered $500 off MSRP. Just felt so effortlessly quick. Only annoyance is the tow hitch, doubt I'll ever use that but i'm def paying for it.

Now only thing is hoping the other dealer returns my deopsit

Regular hybrid owners: do you have any regrets about not getting the MAX?

I have a 26' GHH Nightshade (limited) arriving in a few weeks and after watching basically every youtube video in existence on this car, I kind of regret not going with the MAX powertrain. Problem is, I really like the nightshade trim, which doesn't come in MAX, and the closest thing is to get the Limited MAX in cement and get the black wheels, which is a really difficult trim to find. It's also significantly more expensive.

Main uses will be hauling our 2 kids around, road trips in the northeast, and typical day to day stuff with kids. I can't see myself ever towing anything. Coming from a 2015 RAV4 (wifes car). Other Hybrids at this price point do come with the max-esq power figures. I drive a 2020 Accord Sport 2.0T and love how it drives and the power it has. I'd love if our family hauler could have a comparable feel, but it's also not entirely necessary.

Having second thoughts a few weeks before delivery...

We put a deposit down on this 2026 GHH Nightshade in cement in early May. It's been the trim/color combo that I've had by eye on for years now as I think it's one of the coolest looking trims of any car on the market. We have 2 kids (4 and 7 months) and current have a 2015 RAV4 which my wife dives and I have a 2020 Honda Accord Sport 2.0T. This car wold be replacing the RAV as our family hauler. Both of our cars are starting to feel very tight on trips, and we can barely take anything with us in either of them. It was fine when it was just 1 kid and we could put one of the seats down, but with 2 it's very tight.

The car is set to arrive in a few weeks and I'm having some second thoughts. While it's a beautiful car, is it really worth the premium over the Honda Pilot, Telluride, or Palisade? All of those cars are sitting on lots and could easily be gotten for under MSRP, when I'm basically agreeing to pay MSRP on the GHH without even seeing or driving it. Also, the features you get at this price point would get you a lot more in those other cars. The comparably priced Kia/Hyundai has their turbo hybrid with much more HP, and the tech inside is night and day. All of these cars could be had for almost 10k less. It has me having second thoughts...

Also, it really irks me that the moonroof is considered "optional equipment".

Someone talk me off the ledge.

Shared driveway / informal parking arrangement with neighbor..Am I overthinking this?

Driveway Overview. We are the bottom house. Neighbors are the top. Black boxes are where their cars go. We are almost always in the garage. We have a 2 car garage, theirs is 1.

A little background: we were good friends with the previous owners. Still friends with them and visit regularly. Years ago, his work truck got hit while parked on the street. He asked if he could put rocks down where some landscaping was so his truck could sit partly on that area and partly in/near the driveway. At the time, we were fine with it because we were friends, it helped him out, and everyone could still get in and out.

Fast forward about 7 years. They no longer lives there; his brother and his girlfriend are renting the house. They’ve continued using that unofficial parking setup. I was never really asked if that was okay — it just kind of carried over. Their cars are smaller than the previous owners work truck, so day-to-day it hasn’t been a major issue. They are also very nice people, we just aren't close with them at all.

The problem is that their setup depends on our side of the driveway staying open so they can maneuver around their cars. We’ve basically avoided parking two cars in a row on our side because it would make it harder for them to get out. So while they’re not technically blocking us, the arrangement has started to feel like we gave up some normal use of our own side of the driveway.

Now we may be getting a larger family SUV, and there’s a chance it won’t fit comfortably in our garage. If we need to park it in the driveway behind our garage, I can see the current setup becoming tight. I’m worried they’ll try to squeeze around it to get their top car out and could hit our vehicle.

We’re also likely moving within the next year, so I’m debating whether it’s even worth bringing up. Part of me thinks I should just give the owner, a heads-up and say: “Hey, we’re getting a bigger vehicle and may need to park in the driveway, so the current parking setup may need to change.” I don’t really want to make it into a legal/property-line thing.

I also don’t actually know how the shared driveway is legally set up — whether it’s split in halves, common space, easement, etc. I need to look at the deed/survey. But the original arrangement was really a personal courtesy his work truck, not something I intended to become a permanent extra parking right for whoever rents the house.

My other concern is when we go to sell our house it could make it less desirable to buyers seeing a car always parked in the "shared" portion of the driveway.

Would you bring this up now, or wait until the SUV is actually here and there’s a real issue? Wait till we are going to sell? And how would you phrase it without making it unnecessarily confrontational?

Touring vs Touring S?

I’m seeing a touring S trim in my local dealer sites and struggling to understand the main differences. I can see that the trim has different wheels but that’s it.

I see nothing about this trim on the Honda site it’s very strange

How bad of a look is this?

Accepted a job two weeks ago. Starting on Tuesday. received an offer at another company for significantly more base pay but it’s in an industry I don’t want to be in so I am not wanting to do it. Is it worth it at all telling the recruiter at job 1 about this to try to get some more salary/RSUs? Or would that look terrible 3 days before starting?

Which of these job offers looks better?

I was laid off a month ago have been interviewing like crazy since then. I reveived two offers i'm struggling to decide between. Both are remote management roles in sales development.

\Company 1 - $105k base. 45k expected commission (uncapped). 55k RSUs vesting quarterly over 4 years (25% after year 1, then quarterly. Public company. Great benefits. $1200 annual WFH stipend. Managing 10 people in SaaS. Team is established, doing well. Healthcare premium $858/yr

Company 2 - $140k base. 35k expected commission (capped). No equity. OK benefits. Managing less people - more flexibility to build/create/change things. Managing 3 people to start in tax/advisory/professional services space. Think Big 4 but a bit smaller. This team is broken, everything needs fixed. Incredibly boring industry. Healthcare premium 2,300/year.

Main point of contention is the RSUs and how to properly value these against straight cash. Doing SDR work in the consulting space is a unique challenge (much harder than SaaS). Managing 3 people would be much less work day to day but managing 9 would look better on a future resume.

Lastly, I've spent the last 3 years in consulting/professional services and really hate the industry. I was hoping to get out of consulting and back in to SaaS during this process, but that base salary increase is very real. Really struggling making this decision.

How to navigate receiving better offer 4 days before start date?

After about a month of job searching, I accepted an offer, signed all the paperwork including W-4 and onboarding docs, and am set to start next Tuesday. Today I got a better offer for significantly more money.

I haven’t started yet, never received a paycheck, just signed docs. I told the new company I had a competing offer but didn’t mention I’d already signed one (why would I?). Now I’m worried this omission may come back to hurt me if they find it.

Few questions:

  1. Will backing out of a signed offer I never started show up on a background check?

  2. Any reason to disclose to the new employer that I had already signed elsewhere?

  3. Is there a reason to start both and wait until the new one is finalized? I can’t risk losing both.

My main concern is if that job 2 finds out I accepted a job and didn’t tell them (but again, why would I?) that they would rescind the offer and I’ll lose both.

I haven’t started yet, never received a paycheck, just signed docs. I told the new company I had a competing offer but didn’t mention I’d already signed one (why would I).

My plan is to wait until I have the new offer in writing, then call the first company and back out professionally. I know it’s not ideal but I’m not leaving money on the table.

Two questions:

  1. Will backing out of a signed offer I never started show up on a background check?

  2. Any reason to disclose to the new employer that I had already signed elsewhere?

  3. Is it worth asking job 1 to increase their offer? I doubt they will at this point.

My main concern is if that job 2 finds out I accepted a job and didn’t tell them (but again, why would I?) that they would rescind the offer and I’ll lose both.
