Looking for steamed South Indian alternatives to crispy Dosa & Paddu to avoid high-heat browning (AGEs/glycation)?

I love dosas and paddus, especially that crisp, golden-brown crust. However, for health reasons—specifically aiming to reduce advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) caused by high-heat frying and browning—I need to stick strictly to steamed preparations.

I'm looking for ideas and recipes:

  • Paddu alternatives: Can paddu batter be steamed effectively (in an idli mould, ramekins, or leaf parcels) while still retaining great flavor, or do you have dedicated steamed dumpling recipes that hit a similar craving?
  • Rice & Dal based steamed dishes: Beyond standard idli, what other regional steamed recipes (sweet or savory) make great use of fermented batters, lentils, or whole grains?

Would love to hear your favorite recipes, techniques, or regional dishes!

Rushed, commercialized Narayana Bali ritual – Do we need to repeat it with another priest to resolve lineage blocks?

Hi everyone. We recently undertook a Narayana Bali ritual to resolve ancestral afflictions in our lineage and finally bring a long-pending peace to my mother.

Regrettably, the priest did not perform it with any precision or respect. He was mispronouncing core mantras and seemed entirely motivated by money-seeking, rushing through the steps to wrap up. I am left with a heavy feeling that the ritual is incomplete. My relatives are advising us to just drop it and do nothing, but I want to ensure my mother gets total peace and that we correctly ask for Kshama for what happened.

I want to ask the community:

Is a botched ritual like this completely void, meaning we must do it again with a genuine, knowledgeable priest?

What home-based prayers can I do right now to stabilize our family's energy field and seek forgiveness for the priest's mistakes?

If you have experienced a similar situation where a commercialized priest ruined a high-stakes ritual, how did you rectify it?

Guys, I need your advice. I’m planning to buy a fridge, but the seller says it’s a display/clearance model. The model years available are 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Is there a hidden catch here?

For example, a new 240L 2026 model costs around ₹30k, but this clearance model gives me a 300L fridge for the same ₹30k price with card discount. Are display/clearance units usually as good as new, or should I go for the latest model instead?

A few things I’d like to know before buying:

Does a display model usually have any hidden damage or reduced life?

Is the performance same as a new unit?

Is it worth buying an older model if the price is similar?

What should I check before paying?

Warranty starts from the date of purchase.
