Improving mileage on my 2008 Prius

So I purchased a 2008 model Prius that had been sitting, one owner, but it sat for a little while after he passed. I’ve been cleaning it up, put wheel bearings on it, changed a capacitor, gave it a tuneup, and still kind of working out some of the bugs, but I kind of expected the fuel economy to be a little bit better. It’s running on the original battery, which was tested to be at a little above 80% of the original capacity but otherwise considered to be functional. I’m already used to driving a hybrid, my daily driver is a CRV hybrid, but honestly, this thing only gets marginally better gas mileage than that at 42.6mpg. Is there something I should be doing, or is it possible that my ancient battery or old engine are just not ever going to be as efficient as they were?
