These builds proved to be really fun and effective on solo runs

Hey Folks,

In the past weeks I have been doing different solo runs on custom honour mode. My goal was to experience various classes and approaches. These are not THE BEST builds, but some might find them useful to try out.

Build A - 1 Draconic Sorcerer / 11 Tempest Cleric

Draconic Sorcerer dip for the CON saves and Armour of Agathys. Runs around in heavy armour and AoA, creates water with The Watersparklers equipped and Thunderbolt Strike is toying with enemies. Just delicious.

Build B - 5 Gloomstalker / 7 Draconic Sorcerer

This one was quite straightforward. Use max level Shadowblade and a shield. Can use extended Blade Ward and bunch of Sorcerer stuff.

Build C - 8 Champion / 4 Thief

Main focus on dual hand crossbows and stacking crit chance. Simple and effective, with Bloodlust elixir you have tremendous amount of attacks per turn.

Build D - 1 War Cleric / 11 Battlemaster

This is the so called Great Wisdom Master, just played straight with no respecs. Heavy armour + two handed weapon with GWM. So many attacks already in early game.

Note: I have used the mod 'No More Long Rests' to speed up the gameplay. This mod enables a one click long rest option (all the buffs remain) with no effect on story progression, but you can still do the regular long rests. I know some of you would argue that this is cheating. You might be right, but I have not really played caster classes before due to the heavy long rest dependency and with this I can more easily play around and just have fun. This is why we are playing this game, aren't we?

Your recent experiments on the game?

Crusader build idea

Hey Folks,

Recently I have started a new custom honour solo run where my Tav will be a War Cleric in heavy armour and carrying a two-handed weapon. There are some cool versions to build, no restrictions beside the above, it can be either a 1 level dip or even a pure Cleric or something in between.

So the possible versions are:

  • 1 War Cleric / 11 Battlemaster. This is essentially the Great Wisdom Master from u/c4b-Bg3. Nothing to add, really.
  • 7 War Cleric / 5 Paladin (Crown or Vengeance). Spirit Guardians and smites, with a 5th level spell slot. Cleric 5 would be prioritised.
  • 7 War Cleric / 5 Hunter. This is more of a Warden I think and I like the utility spells and of course Horde Breaker
  • 2 Stars Druid / 10 War Cleric, which is again quite straightforward. Fantastic Bonus Action options and good concentration saves.

Interested in your take of the theme.

Bladesinging Wizard and multiclassing

Hey,

I have recently started a solo custom Honour run as a Bladesinging Wiizard, currently being level 7. The class is really cool, I am just thinking on possible multiclassing options. The main theme is to be a DEX based dual wielder arcane warrior, who is using Haste and Mirror Image. I also love the idea of having a Myrmidon fighting on my side.

The ideas:

A) 2 Paladin / 10 Bladesinging Wizard

Quite straightforward Smitesinger with level 6 spellslot.

B) 3 Thief / 9 Bladesinging Wizard

More focus on BA melee attacks and mobility.

C) 1 Fighter / 2 Tempest Cleric / 9 Bladesinging Wizard

CON save proficiency, Create Water + Lightning spells with level 6 spellslot.

Interested in your experience of the class.

Online parfümvásárlás után minőségi kifogást sikerült már érdemben végigvinni?

Sziasztok,

Neten vásároltam parfümöt a D. oldalán.

Thief Champion - a Dual Hand Crossbow build

Dual Hand Crossbow build, trying to maximise damage and crit chance, played on Custom Honour mode. Might try Callous Glow + Coruscation combo later, never did on a martial Tav.

Yurgir fight

Build focusing on hand crossbows

Hey,

This is an open discussion about the below build idea for playing solo Tactician or Honour. I know there is nothing fundamentally new out there and there are proved, classic builds like the Rivington Rat or any 5 Gloom / 4 Assassin / 3 Champion or <insert your favourite here>. One of the goals here to be a bit different.

I would like to utilise the hand crossbows and to have a bunch of attacks and damage riders.

The build/gear would be focusing on crits and I have in mind the setup until level 10 only.

So it would be 6 Champion / 4 Thief, with the feats of Sharpshooter, DEX ASI and Magic Initiate: Warlock or Sorcerer to get Minor Illusion and Booming Blade, the spell might be better from Warlock to get Hex. This 3rd Feat can be optional, but you can even be a Duergar for the on the demand Invisibility and still have access to Booming Blade (and Minor Illusion).

Stats would look like: 10 STR (8+2 from Araj) / 20 DEX (17+1 Ethel+2 DEX ASI) / 14 CON / 16 INT / 10 WIS / 8 CHA

So at level 10, you would use Hellfire Hand Crossbow and the Ne'er Misser, with cold damage from Drakethroat Glaive applied to the former.

Equipment:

Diadem of Arcane Synergy

Cloak of Protection

Yuan-Ti Scale Mail

Dark Justiciar Gauntlets (Uncommon)

The Speedy Lightfeet

Broodmother's Revenge

Snowburst Ring

Strange Conduit Ring (if you are ok to switch amulets and concentrate of Guidance for example or you can use Hex once a day)
- this can be replaced with Caustic Band or Shadow-Cloaked Ring or The Whispering Promise (works well with the amulet)

King's Knife (I know, I know) and Knife of the Undermountain King - with these and the Champion subclass, you will crit from 17 and above, that's 20%.

Using BA Dash to generate lightning charges and have great mobility, creating ice surfaces under your targets, hitting criticals and getting more attacks from Bloodlust Elixir. Mainly that's it.

What do you think and what can be the last 2 levels?

- Going 8 Champion, Remarkable Athlete is ok, but no real need for another feat

- 5 Thief for 3d6 Sneak Attack and Uncanny Dodge

- Just to further improve offhand attacks and get Fire Res, 2 levels in Ranger and get Two-Weapon Fighting (I prefer this)

- Stop at 2 Feats and get 3 Thief 3 Gloomstalker in exchange of Two-Weapon Fighting and Dread Ambusher

Storm Fighter build idea

Hey,

There is a build idea in my head for a couple of days now and I just end up always thinking it further and then back to the starting point. So your inputs are much appreciated.

The core idea is to have a solo melee character, built around Tempest Cleric class, with a 1 level Sorcerer dip. Cast Create Water, have the The Watersparkers boots and The Sparkswall ring equipped, facing the enemies in Heavy Armour.

The obvious idea would be 1 Draconic Sorcerer / 11 Tempest Cleric, but I am interested in your ideas, maybe involve Bard or Paladin or Eldritch Knight.

The Nightblade Juggernaut

Hey Folks,

wanted to share the below build as it is worth to give it a try in my opinion. I am playing solo Tactician.

TL;DR: The build is 5 Gloomstalker / 7 Draconic Sorcerer. It is using level 5 Shadow Blade at level 12 with Armour of Agathys and Resonance Stone. A melee focused build with only supportive spellcasting.

The first version was different: 1 Fighter / 2 Star Druid / 9 Draconic Sorcerer and extra attack would have been from Haste spell, but despite the Dragon Form, it still felt risky to fail concentrating on Haste and fell lethargic.

The build starts as straight 5 Gloomstalker with the ability spread of:

17 STR / 16 DEX / 15 CON / 8 INT / 8 WIS / 8 CHA

Once you have the Gloves of Dexterity, you can dump DEX and increase WIS or CHA, but we are not using any of these to be honest.

Get the Defence Fightning style, Ranger Knight and Wasteland Wanderer: Fire. The first Feat we take is Heavy Armour Master which brings STR to 18 and it will be 20 at the beginning of Act 2, once your can drink the potion from Araj, so you can use Bloodlust elixirs. The Hag's Hair should go to CON, so you will have your abilities as:

20 STR / 16 DEX / 16 CON / 8 INT / 8 WIS / 8 CHA - If you are NOT using the Resonance Stone

OR

20 STR / 18 DEX / 16 CON / 8 INT / 14 WIS / 12 CHA - If you are using the Resonance Stone, you should be using the Gloves of Dexterity, too.

Once done with the Ranger levels, we are progressing with the Draconic Sorcerer levels, where we are taking c. I know Shadow Blade is coming only at level 8, but we have sacrificed this for Extra Attack. At level 9, take the Savage Attacker Feat. At level 12, you will have 1 level 5 spell slot for the Shadow Blade and after Spellcrux refresh (or Arcane Battery), you can have a level 5 Armour of Agathys too.

Gameplay tips:

- use Hand Crossbows, so you can place a water bottle next to an enemy and shoot it with your BA and make them wet to double Armour of Agathys damage

- before Armour of Persistence, use Extended Spell - Blade Ward before fights

- make sure Armour of Agathys is up

- (most obvious one) Booming Blade, when available

This is open for discussion if it can be designed to be more effective. Please note, this is nto a Sorcadin build, there are 1000 out there.

EDIT: Added the ability split whether or not you are using the Resonance Stone and the line about Booming Blade. Thanks to u/AnotherBookWyrm

Storm Thrower - a build for early levels

I have been playing around with different setups and would like to share this as I found pretty cool and effective. This is not a complete build as the run is still ongoing, but you can try this on level 6, so no need for the late game stuff. I'll see how this works on later levels.

This is not a fundamentally new stuff for sure.

So this early build is 1 Tempest Cleric / 5 Eldritch Knight, with the stats spread of

17/16/15/8/8/8. The Feat is Tavern Brawler with +1 STR and Ethel's Hair goes to CON, so you will have the stats like this: 18/16/16/8/8/8.

I am wearing heavy armour (Adamantine Splint) and Thrown weapon as a Binded weapon with a shield, which is The Real Sparky Sparkswall. Other key equipments are the boots (The Watersparkers), the ring (The Sparkswall) and the gloves (The Sparkle Hands). I would love to have The Sparky Points working with Thrown action, but Electric Blood is only working with melee.

The basic combat loop is:

- create water before fight

- or initiate fights with create water and get back your action

- standing on water will activate The Watersparkers

- throwing your weapon will active lightning charges from The Sparkle Hands

- once you have 5 lightning charges, you can active your shield and run your aura for 3 turns. I suggest using this for bigger encounters as sadly it is working only per long rest

- defend yourself with the Shield spell, if needed

- Wrath of the Storm works very well with the theme and on wet targets

With natural 18 STR, you can use Bloodlust elixirs or just do minor fights without it. I will see how it works out on later levels, but Lightning Jabber will be more than welcome in Act 2.

Feel free to add your thoughts.

My experience on Sorcerer in heavy armour

Hey,

Nothing new here, only for me, as I have not played Sorcerer this way. The build is quite simple: 1 Tempest Cleric / 11 Draconic Sorcerer. I am playing solo Tactician.

Tempest Cleric for Create Water, Heavy Armour, Martial Weapons and Shield proficiency. And I quite like Wrath of the Storm.

White Draconic Sorcerer for Armour of Agathys and all the juicy Sorcerer stuff.

Start as a Tempest Cleric, with stats spread of 8/16/14/8/10/17. We will get +1 CHA from Ethel. but the first feat I chose is Dual Wielder and used Melf's First Staff and The Spellsparkler. The +1 AC is also nice and I try to utilise Bonus Action as much as possible, therefore using Hand Crossbows. Adamantine Splint for the durability and 2nd feat is +2 CHA ASI.

The techs/tricks I am using during combat are listed below. I have learned from others, not my findings:

- Utilise Wet condition, if possible. It will greatly boost Armour of Agathys' efficiency, the better if you can apply extended Blade Ward. You can start combat with Create Water and get back your action. Place a water bottle to the ground near the enemy and shoot with your offhand crossbow.

- If possible, initiate combat from hiding with ranged attack. Just before the arrow hits, press the Enter Turn Based Mode hotkey (I am using F). If done properly, you will get your action back and possibly get a Surprise round too.

- The so called Turn Buffering (by Morgana Evelyn?). Always use the highest spell slots. I you use Scorching Ray for example, select your targets and once the last ray is ticked, hit space button to end your turn. There should be at least one enemy behind you in the turn order. If done properly, your turn ends before the animation is ending and you keep your spell slot. Works with Armour of Agathys too.

- Same as above, it is also working with Twinned Spells like Chromatic Orb. No Sorcery Points or Spell Slots are consumed.

- While in combat, you can get technically infinite Spell Slots of Sorcery Points as Turn Buffering works with these. Best use if there is only 1 weak enemy left as you need to be in combat for this to work.

I know some of the above is cheesy, but playing solo you'll need the support. With all these techs and the classes, this build feels really powerful and also let you make some mistakes.

Hey,

Just wanted to give a praise on Arcane Archer, as it is such a great class. Playing on solo Tactician and being level 8, I am still in the middle of the playthrough but would like to share my experience.

I am Drow, so don't have access to Minor Illusion or Booming Blade. Started as a Fighter with the ability points spread of 8 / 17 / 14 / 16 / 10 / 8 and went AA until level 5. Took Sharpshooter and Hag's Hair, used STR elixirs and the Titanstring.

At level 6 I went for a dip in Wizard and choose the cantrips Minor Illusion, Mage Hand and Booming Blade and selected the level 1 spells: Expeditious Retreat, Enhance Leap, Longstrider and Shield (you can select 2 more, but only prepare 4 with 16 INT). All of these I find really useful. You only have 2 spell slots, but with Arcane Recovery and the 2 Amulets, this is technically 5 spell slots per long rest.

AA level 6 I went for DEX ASI for 20 DEX and with Magic Arrow class feature at level 7, I can now ignore physical piercing resistance.

During fights, I am utilising the Speedy Sparks via Expeditious Retreat and this also enables the Strange Conduit Ring.

I have to admit I am also using some neat tricks:

- when attacking from stealth and hitting 'Enter Turn Based Mode' hotkey just before the normal arrow hits the target, you can get the Surprise round AND your full action back, just like an Assassin

- In combat, If you are done with your first attack and are comfortable with your position, you can use a special arrow and click end turn while the animation is happening. You perform the attack and keep your Arcane Arrow. Only works if there are at least 1 opponent behind you in the turn order. Not a must, as you have quite a few Arcane Shots per rest

- Always having the buffs from Tippler's Rage (attacking with advantage) and Shadeclinger Armour (advantage on saving throws)

Note: Thanks for the idea u/Missing_Links, medium armour looks better than heavy armour for this build.

The Eldritch Archer Assassin

A build idea for solo Tactician to discuss. By no means is this optimised or minmaxed and if getting extra attack only at level 8 is an issue, this one is not for you.

I simply love the idea around Assassin an their main features from level 3.

Start as a Fighter with stat spread of something like below:

8 / 17 / 16 / 10 / 10 / 12

and chug some STR elixirs early game

We are not a sneaky one and would like to have some defence, so wear medium or heavy armour, even a shield and I prefer the King's Knife as stat stick. In the early game, after 1 Fighter, go for 3 Assassin and then back to Fighter for Eldritch Knight. Hag's Hair to +1 DEX.

After reaching 5 Eldritch Knight (Feat Sharpshooter or DEX ASI) 3 Assassin, you can respec to the same split, but with stat spread of

8 / 17 / 14 / 16 / 8 / 8

with STR elixirs to use the Titanstring or Bloodlust elixirs if you go for other ranged weapon.

At level 10, being 7 Eldritch Knight 3 Assassin, you will have both Sharpshooter and DEX ASI, starting the fights with a Surprise round and your full action back with crits. You can shoot a Firebolt or any other offensive cantrip and attack 3 times again, thanks to War Magic.

Last 2 levels to Assassin for Crossbow Expert, Bhaalist Armour, Adamantine Shield for crit protection and you can shoot in the face of the enemies with Arrow of Many Targets, Oil of Combustion and Fire enchantment on your bow.

You could even use Helmet of Arcane Acuity and build up Arcane Acuity and get good use of scrolls like Hold Person, Hold Monster or Fireball.
