Chitinous Warlock

I based my whole drip around my threadling build. Loved the vibes of the bleached-hive ornament for euphony.

It's been a few days now since Violet Hold has been released. What's your favorite rule breaking legendary? Are you surprised? I'll start with mine

It just feels so good to not loose a rafaam to aggressive card draw.

Sony's last 18 months: $766M Bungie writedown, Concord disaster, 8 studios closed/restructured, and two PS5 price hikes. At what point do we stop accepting "challenging economic environment" as an answer?

Let's just put the receipts on the table:

Feb 2024: ~900 PlayStation Studios layoffs. London Studio dead. (Windows Central)

Aug 2024: Concord ships Aug 23. Servers off Sept 6. Full refunds. Years of dev, gone. (GameSpot)

Oct 2024: Firewalk (172 jobs) and Neon Koi (38 jobs) closed. (Game Developer)

Aug 2024: Bungie cuts 220 employees, ~17% of workforce, less than two months after their most successful Destiny 2 expansion. (TechRadar)

Aug 2025: $50 price hike across all PS5 SKUs. "Challenging economic environment." (Axios)

Apr 2026: Second hike. PS5 base now $649.99. Pro at $899.99. That's $150 above a 2020 launch price on hardware that should be getting cheaper. (BBC via AOL)

May 2026: Bungie ends Destiny 2 development June 9. Significant layoffs incoming. No Destiny 3. (Bloomberg, GeekWire)

The kicker: Sony has booked a $766M impairment loss on the $3.6B Bungie acquisition. (This Week in Videogames)

And the response from PlayStation leadership is a blog post about "continued pressures in the global economic landscape."

No. The pressure is that Sony's executives chased Fortnite money, spent $3.6B on a studio whose flagship game they just killed, greenlit Concord, and bet the live-service farm. They lost. And the bill is going to workers (laid off) and us (paying $150 more for a five-year-old console).

Pete Parsons, who oversaw the Bungie acquisition and the layoffs, stepped down in mid-2025. He's an avid classic car collector. (The Sixth Axis) Hermen Hulst still runs the Studio Business Group. Hideaki Nishino is still co-CEO of PlayStation. Find me the executive who took a real hit for any of this. I'll wait.

Meanwhile every six months it's another studio closure, another round of layoffs, another price hike, another carefully-worded blog post, and we all upvote the headline and move on.

What's the actual line? $999 PS6? $89.99 games? Another studio? Or is there no line and we just keep paying more for less while the people who actually make the games get cycled into the unemployment line?

TL;DR: Sony's executives made expensive bad bets (Bungie, Concord, live-service strategy), lost billions, and the people paying for it are the laid-off devs and consumers eating two PS5 price hikes, while leadership stays employed.
