I'm participating in a weekly photo challenge and thought you all would enjoy my entry for this week--a close up of the damselfly mentioned in my earlier post.

A fun fact I learned is that damselflies have compact eyes that give them a 360° field of view, but when the lens plates shift around, the ones that are pointing directly at whatever they're looking at appear darker like a pupil. Look close, and you can see our little friend was looking at me just as intently as I was looking at him!

Pictured: Ornamental Onion, a damselfly at the sunflower buffet, and this potato plant that keeps coming back no matter how many spuds I pull out of the ground.

Guy was scooting across the armrest of my couch, had a hard time identifying a snoot but DEFINITELY boots on this fella.

The sunflowers and blanketflowers have been putting on a show for the last few weeks, but the real star is the ornamental onion which still has a few weeks yet (the bees go nuts for it.)

Anyone growing veggies this year? Our tomatoes are just barely hanging on with the heat wave we had.
