Aside from his 5 CWS titles, Skip’s time as our athletic director was one of the most successful times in LSU football history that included 2 football national championships and 3 SEC championships. LSU also during his leadership won the Sugar Bowl twice, made a Men’s Final Four, made 5 Women’s Final Fours, and 6 T&F National Titles.

The No. 7 worn by Jones will join the Billy Cannon’s No. 20, Tommy Casanova’s No. 37, Jerry Stovall’s No. 21 and Charles Alexander’s No. 4 as retired jerseys in the LSU football program.

All retired jersey numbers are displayed on the façade in the south end zone of Tiger Stadium. All but Cannon’s No. 20 are still worn by current players. Cannon has the only retired number in LSU football history.

Jay Johnson has pulled it off.

The #23 player in the 2026 class, Nawrocki was projected as a top-100 pick in this year’s Draft but will instead head to Baton Rouge for his freshman season.
