Longan crafts free pants pattern

https://www.longancraft.com/products/structured-pants-sewing-pattern-free-pdf-pattern-download

I made the pants that were a little fishy for possibly being an ai pattern! Admittedly this rayon jacquard was the wrong fabric and I think the pieces have stretched and sagged a good bit, both during construction and wearing. The cool seam lines basically disappear in this fabric, but this pattern did come together nicely. One cool thing that I liked was this pattern came with a separate piece for the finished back pocket, which I used to easily fold over those rounded seam allowances. The crotch curve turned out basically perfect in this flowy fabric, but it may need some tweaking in an actual structured fabric.

I haven't put a drawstring in because the elastic is great, but i did add the buttonholes which were nicely marked on the waistband pattern piece. I used 1.5 inch elastic. I like wearing my pants quite high, and when I measured the pieces, I thought the rise may be too low, but I think the shifty rayon worked to my advantage in that I likely cut the pieces a little large/inaccurately.

Overall I liked this pattern but I don't think I'll make again unless I find some fabrics perfect for colorblocking the different panels, to highlight the cool seam lines. Mostly my fabrics are all secondhand so I just don't anticipate this happening. I think in a more stable fabric, a beginner could have fun with this pattern, if they were already familiar with construction techniques like in seam pockets, because the provided instructions are not great.

I didn't particularly use the instructions, but I think there are more clues in there that lead to this being Ai generated sadly. On the other hand it may just be the case where a few people or one person made the pattern somehow and only one sample was ever actually made. Kinda like mood sewciety patterns. Not the best quality but still fun to use sometimes

Longan craft structured pants

They call these structured pants, maybe because of the cool seam lines on the front. I haven't made these yet but I did just cut out the pieces and there is definitely shaping at the ankle to give a sort of barrel shape. There is also a buttonhole marking on the hem that is not mentioned in the listing so maybe they could even be bubble shape! The front pockets are shaped smartly so they anchor into the waistband seam.

This pattern was easy to print and assemble, with clear makings at the margins. However it didn't have a print size gauge thingy, usually a square that you measure after printing just one of the pages. There are plenty of helpful notch markings for lining up the curved seams on the front. The sewing line is printed very clearly on the pieces including seam allowance and even topstitching lines. The crotch curve is quite shallow on these. It only comes in 2 sizes and the files are separate

I added length to the thigh and the barrel shape is kinda lost in that, especially in shoes. This may also be why they are so much baggier than the model pictures. That and perhaps printing the pdf incorrectly.

I modified the center front and basically copied a jeans pattern simplicity 7581 which had an almost identical waistband, just a little more curved, so i used the simplicity waistband too. I also added one welt pocket to the back. I used the jeans pattern for the center front because I prefer a different zipper method that uses a grown-on fly. the closet core ginger jeans tutorial is what I reference for all my fly zippers. This pattern originally had a curved center front and I couldn't figure that out.

The fabric is a thrifted cotton tablecloth with a checkerboard woven in the twill. It's kinda like a light denim weight. The orange topstitching will be less noticeable when I eventually dye these orange.

I'm not totally sure this pattern includes seam allowance because none was indicated outside the darts. The instructions are thorough but not illustrated and I didn't really use them. Next time I'll keep the length closer to the original design so the barrel-shaping darts are more visible
