Bizarre match in my Gearing. But ended up with an improbable win.

It started off innocent enough, with a dev strike on a BB. Capped a couple points. Ambushed another Gearing for a quick kill. Then things went south. Started losing teammates. At about 5 min left it was 3 blue vs 4 red and I lost both torpedo batteries and had low health. Soon it became 2 blue vs 4 red and our only hope was for caps and winning on points. I played a little ring-around-the-Rosie with battleships and was able to get two more caps, while also scoring defends, along with my last teammate, on the Reds trying to cap positions. Thankfully time ran out with us up 30 points as they were capping their 3rd base. You can’t feel much more naked than captaining a Destroyer with no torps, little health , and no smoke lol. But it was one of the most satisfying wins I’ve had.

USS Nathan James (DDG-151)

If you’ve never seen “The Last Ship”, it’s a fun show about an Arleigh Burke class-DDG and an apocalyptic plague that wipes out most of Earth’s population. Eric Dane (RIP 😔) is phenomenal as the ship’s Captain. It’s on Netflix if anyone needs a show to checkout

I haven’t read past the “Heroes of Olympus” series and don’t intend to. But did we ever figure out what happened in Albania?? [all]

What happened ?????

u/genericwhiteguyname1 — 28 days ago

Our 3 current South Dakota- class battleships (out of 4 built).

USS Alabama, USS Massachusetts, and USS Indiana.

Ironically, we don’t have USS South Dakota. And I know there’s Bama B and Massa B, but they’re just copies, so I wasn’t counting them.

Did they nerf the Steel amount for Ranked again?

I’m only seeing 1,000 total Steel available. Was it like that last week as well? Typically hasn’t it been 1,200 steal you can earn in Ranked?

Looking at USS Indiana and saw the secondaries get 25mm pen vs 21mm pen on the other SD-class BB’s.

Same secondary layout as the Massachusetts and Alabama. Compared to the Massachusetts, Indiana has the same range, a 1.5 second less reload, 200 more max damage per shell, the same fire setting % and the same secondary dispersion. It also has 70k health vs 63,300 and 66,600 for Bama and Massa, respectively. Indiana also has better torpedo reduction % and fire prevention % than the other two. But being in T8 rather than T7, like the other two, obviously it needed a buff.

And now at this point I would like to summon the Brawling Supreme Leader u/AlekTrev006 to provide more insight as to what this actually means.

The shell grouping on this things is nuts (2.2 stock, 2.5 with accuracy build).

Just don’t go broadsided to anyone at any distance lol.

Finally got enough Steel

Once I get a decent amount of games in it, I’ll post a little review. I’ve actually yet to see one since the update dropped so I’m going in virtually blind.
My build (AL Avora) has Main battery at 4x4 130mm cannons, 18.5km range, 5 sec reload, 2083 max HE shell damage, 9% fire chance and 22mm of HE pen. Torps are 2x5 with 8km range and 60kt speed. 4.5 sec rudder shift and 35kt speed. 11.4km concealment.

“We sank an enemy Destroyer”— wait.. what?

This is why I try to avoid running up too close to friendly ships when I have super low health left. Poor bastard caught a shell unintended for him and sunk lol.

Has it been confirmed what the Steel cost for Smolensk will be ?

If I remember correctly , when the first still ship released, T7 Missouri, it was originally 30k. Then I think they lowered it down to 25k a little bit later. I don’t even know how much it costs currently because I have it and can’t see the cost. The T8s are 25k, at least for Druid and Marceau. Are all the steel ships 25k or does it vary by tier like doubloon or GXP ships? I don’t think we’ve ever had a LT Steel ship so I really don’t know what it might cost and didn’t see a price in the patch notes. If anyone knows, it would be much appreciated. Thx!

I figured a refresher on the additional benefits of having a fully maxed commander was due.

Now I know a lot of veterans are aware of these benefits, but wanted to share for some of the newer players or those who just might not be aware.

Not everyone will have the resources to take advantage, but just keep it in the back of your head.

And now to the main part. We all know Universal Commendations(UC) are tough to come by. However, there are a couple ways to earn them if you have a commander maxed out to lvl 16, Legendary 4. The most simple way is to go to the “commanders” tab in the Shop and purchase the commander you have fully maxed for 900k Commander XP. This will grant you 1 UC. But be conscious of how much Commander XP you have. If you go to rank up another commander, but don’t have enough Commander XP, it will use your free Green XP after you have depleted your Commander XP stash.

The other way to do it is through commander crates. If you pull a commander out of a crate who is fully maxed you will be granted 1 UC. If they are not maxed you will get a regular Personal Commendation, only usable on that specific commander. The more commanders you have fully maxed, the higher the odds of pulling one that grants a UC.

Each week you typically have the possibility of 5 commander crates available. 2 through missions and a 3 pack available for $10.5 million credits in the store. Disclaimer here, but I am a 7 year player and have an abundance of resources, except for UC’s, which go FAST. So dropping $10 million on commander crates doesn’t really matter much, but I realize that could be cost prohibitive to a lot of people. I also use and have a lot of my historical commanders very highly ranked. So out of the 5 weekly commander crates I opened today, I was able to pull 3 UC and 2 Personal Commendations of commanders I’m actively trying to level up. That was a bit luckier than is typical for me, but I usually manage to pull 1-2 UC out of the 5 commander crates each week, and get other commanders closer to being maxed out as well.

Like I said, I know a lot of people probably can’t take full advantage of this, but I wanted to get the information out there again just so people are more knowledgeable about various game mechanics. Hopefully I am able to provide some good info to people who aren’t aware, and thank you for reading if you have made it this far lol!

Who ya taking into battle in Standard between Victoria and Wisconsin?

The quantity of Victorias I see in matchmaking rivals some of the early campaign ships. Not as bad as Jean Bart was, but for the number of ships currently in game, it’s pretty prevalent.

Personally I’m hopping on the Victoria bandwagon. Victoria commander is great, as are the options for Wisconsin’s commander. Wisconsin gets a decent edge in stock health and rocks 9 406mm cannons while Victoria rocks 9 381mm cannons, although Victoria is seemingly a citadel machine. Reload is about equal, maybe slight edge to Victoria because of commander reload bonuses that don’t show up on the stats page. Accuracy and range is definitely in favor of Victoria.

Consumables are close to identical, although Wisconsin gets infinite MBRB. But Victoria offsets that a bit by its 2 MBRB and “ready rack” feature. Victoria does struggle in AP damage compared to Wisconsin (under 10k vs 14k). It’s mainly a product of gun size, but I’d say the “ready rack” on Victoria closes the gap a bit. Rudder shift is a wash. Concealment slight edge to Victoria.

Wisconsin takes the cake in AA, and I’m not really factoring in secondaries for either, since it doesn’t fit the play style. Armor on both leaves a lot to be desired, but positioning, angle, and range will help mitigate that for both.

I’ve only got about half as many Victoria matches as I do with the Wisconsin, so it’s a smaller sample size, but I have a well higher win rate, 40k average damage more per game, and a much higher average base XP.

Soooo what are yalls thoughts ?
