Highly considering Newport Beach

My wife and I visited the Newport Beach area and it seems really lovely. Visited a friend living around the flower streets and could walk to the beach, restaurants, and it was so nice. Any tips for those who live in the area? If cost is no problem then what are the downsides of living there? Or is there anywhere else we’ve considered? Have also looked around San Diego county.

This would be for raising a young family, are into outdoor things (tennis, pickleball, golf), and do some light boating.

Life in Newport Beach

Hey all. I’m curious to hear if Newport Beach would be a good spot to move to and raise a family. What are the people like, the general politics, the food scene. My wife and I visited a friend in Corona Del Mar walking distance to the beach and it was incredible and we did some shopping at Fashion Island but haven’t explored much beyond that. Are people pretty accepting of new families coming in? We’ve looked at quite a few houses online on Balboa Island that look nice as well. Thanks!

Coastal CA cities

What coastal CA cities are recommended for (very) fat fire? The main ones being considered are north county San Diego and Newport Beach area. Any others to look into? Curious what the main vibe differences are and pros and cons are to someone more familiar with these areas.

More details: young family friendly, dog friendly, beaches, relatively quiet, still good access to restaurants. Nightlife and bars are not a must, not a big drinker. Access to bigger cities would be nice though for a change of pace as well as a close international airport.
