Ulanzi M10 still too bright even on lowest (10%) setting? Here’s a quick fix
Just picked up the Ulanzi M10 magnetic light and even at the lowest 10% brightness setting it’s still way too bright for reading in bed or using as a subtle night light. Here’s a simple, reversible trick that worked for me:
1. Gently pry apart the diffuser cover from the light panel - start in the middle of the long edge, not the corners. There are small notches/indentations molded into the housing right there (see photo) that make it much easier to get a fingernail in and get things started.
2. Once you’ve got a bit of a gap, use a larger blunt, flat tool to carefully work around the edge and pop the diffuser the rest of the way off. Only use flat, blunt tools - an old gift card or a plastic spudger works great. Don’t use anything sharp (knife, screwdriver, etc.) - you risk scratching the housing or damaging the clips. Go slow, it’s just clipped in.
3. Cut a piece of regular printer paper (or a couple layers if you want it even dimmer) to the size of the diffuser.
4. Slide it in between the LED panel and the diffuser, then snap the diffuser back into place.
The paper acts as an extra diffusion/ND layer and cuts the perceived brightness down noticeably, even on the 10% setting. It’s fully reversible too. Just pull the paper back out if you want full brightness again.
Way easier than messing with the internals, and doesn’t touch any of the electronics. Figured I’d share since the low-end brightness curve on this thing seems to be a common complaint.
Vertical 2 – Nexus watchface suddenly changed to a completely different screen and I can‘t get it back
I've had the Nexus watchface installed on my Vertical 2 for a while now, no issues. Out of nowhere it switched to a totally different screen: big time display, heart rate, ascent, distance, and battery percentage — nothing like the actual Nexus face (sunset time, weather, date) I've always had.
No activity is running, so it's not the exercise recording screen.
What I've tried so far:
- Swiping in any direction — nothing happens
- Pressing the middle button before swiping (heard this "unlocks" touch on newer firmware) — no change
- Soft reset (holding the upper button for 12s) — screen still stuck on the same layout after reboot
- Deleted the watchface from the watch and reinstalled it fresh — no change
In the app, Nexus shows as "In Verwendung" (in use), but on the watch itself it clearly isn't rendering that face. My suspicion is the sync didn't fully complete, but re-syncing hasn't fixed it either.
Anyone run into this? Is this a known bug with a fix, or should I go straight to a hard reset / contacting support?
Watch: Suunto Vertical 2
Edit: it’s back! You might have to delete and reinstall the watch Dave, though.
HR Recovery not showing after interval runs with Suunto Plus Guide?
Hey everyone,
just got a Vertical II and so far pretty happy with it.
One thing that’s been bugging me: HR Recovery works perfectly after a regular free run. Enable the feature beforehand, finish the run, measurement shows up as expected.
However, when I do an interval workout using Suunto Plus Guide, HR Recovery doesn’t appear at the end of the activity at all, even though I enable the feature before starting. Latest firmware installed.
Not sure if this is a known limitation with guided workouts or if I’m doing something wrong. Maybe Suunto Plus Guide interferes with the post-activity flow somehow? Couldn’t find anything about this in the docs.
Anyone run into this?
