Intro to organ for piano students

I’m hosting a local piano studio (about 8 kids and their parents) for an “Introduction to the Organ” session at my church tomorrow. I have a two-manual tracker and lots of spare pipes to play with. I’m planning to explain the different types of sounds and how sound is made, and have them all play their spring recital pieces and go crazy with registration. What else would you do/talk about/show?

Puppy fixates on other dogs during walks.

Our 6-month old AmStaff mix girlie is such a sweetie and very friendly, and she LOVES other dogs. We are trying so hard to get her to be neutral towards other dogs on walks, but she fixates on them and won’t look away. If we try to walk past, she pulls really hard, so we’ve been stopping to wait. She does sit, and she’ll pay attention to treats to a certain point, but when the other dog gets close enough she ignores us. This morning I tried a treat scatter instead of asking her to look at me and it did break her focus for long enough to get the treat off the ground, but them she went right back to staring down the other dog.

My goal is for her to be able to continue walking and totally ignore other dogs as we pass them. How do I work towards that?

What do you say when…

I’m heavily tailoring a dress, such that I’m basically re-sewing every seam. But, I’m not touching the hem, button band, or collar. What phrase would you have ready when someone asks, “Did you make that?” (Because my friends will)

It’s not really upcycled because it’s brand new, I didn’t make the hardest parts of it…”I tailored it” feels anticlimactic 😂

I live on a busy block and spend lots of time sitting on the porch. I’ve been working with my 6-month old AmStaff to “settle” on the porch and watch people, cars, dogs, bikes, etc. calmly. Does that “count” as enrichment, even though she’s not really doing anything? I know it’s not physical exercise, but is it mental exercise?
