I will relocate this month from London to Phnom Penh (PP) for a job. Any tips, heads-up or strategies for a smooth transition? What surprises you most about living in PP that you wish you'd known before arriving? What pit-falls or mistakes should I look to void? Any words of wisdom much appreciated!

What is the best thing about living in Cambodia? In the capital? What is the worst thing?

Good strategy for selling a house:

DUTCH AUCTION SALE

You may feel this house is overpriced at £600,000 today. If that's the case, you should simply wait: the price will fall by 1% every 7 days until a buyer is confirmed.

If you think the current price is fair, you can act now. And if you think it is too high, wait a while and see. Either way, the market will decide the selling price.

Next reduction: Monday 22/6.

Anyone used this approach?

There are no emotions and no reserve price. Just seller finding buyer. You may say buyer will keep waiting. My response is the seller doesn't care and is happy to wait as long as it takes.

The forgiveness miracle is, when something seems bad say, I ask to see this differently, and the healing miracle is, when something seems good say, I ask to see only sameness.

Nice piece of writing to share with you. Maybe the writer Chekhov was ripe for ACIM ...

A man agrees to seclude himself from human contact for 15 years with only books. He writes this the day before regains free

"For fifteen years I have been intently studying earthly life. It is true I have not seen the earth nor men, but in your books I have drunk fragrant wine, I have sung songs, I have hunted stags and wild boars in the forests, have loved women ... Beauties as ethereal as clouds, created by the magic of your poets and geniuses, have visited me at night, and have whispered in my ears wonderful tales that have set my brain in a whirl. In your books I have climbed to the peaks of Elburz and Mont Blanc, and from there I have seen the sun rise and have watched it at evening flood the sky, the ocean, and the mountain-tops with gold and crimson. I have watched from there the lightning flashing over my head and cleaving the storm-clouds. I have seen green forests, fields, rivers, lakes, towns. I have heard the singing of the sirens, and the strains of the shepherds' pipes; I have touched the wings of comely devils who flew down to converse with me of God ... In your books I have flung myself into the bottomless pit, performed miracles, slain, burned towns, preached new religions, conquered whole kingdoms ...

"Your books have given me wisdom. All that the unresting thought of man has created in the ages is compressed into a small compass in my brain. I know that I am wiser than all of you.

"And I despise your books, I despise wisdom and the blessings of this world. It is all worthless, fleeting, illusory, and deceptive, like a mirage. You may be proud, wise, and fine, but death will wipe you off the face of the earth as though you were no more than mice burrowing under the floor, and your posterity, your history, your immortal geniuses will burn or freeze together with the earthly globe.

"You have lost your reason and taken the wrong path. You have taken lies for truth, and hideousness for beauty. You would marvel if, owing to strange events of some sorts, frogs and lizards suddenly grew on apple and orange trees instead of fruit, or if roses began to smell like a sweating horse; so I marvel at you who exchange heaven for earth. I don't want to understand you."

From "The Bet" by Anton Palovich Chekhov

Coined a couple of non-religious words that might help some: Instead of forgive, forgiveness, heal, healing respectively there is emptify, emptification, wholify, wholification

Edit: Why not restrain the instinct to attack by downvoting a brother and instead emptify yourself of superiority and specialness. Consider the fact that because something is not for you does not mean something is wrong for everyone.

Each moment forgive any ego-given arising thought by first noticing it, and then healing it with it's God-given equivalent thought

“My mind holds only what I think with God.”

Forgiveness lets go of the bad; healing lets in the good. My role is, look for bad every waking moment - since ego speaks first to create this world. Each bad looked on is let go. Let go means now let in healing. Forgive first, heal second. The bad then stops showing its face. Welcome the Real World

To practice making this current second absolutely perfect

(namely utterly peaceful which means offering no resistance to any thought or thing)

so that as soon as I get off the mat I now have a decent shot

to make perfect that particular moment and every moment thereafter
