I am an idiot, made GIMP stop responding before saving, can I do anything?

As the title said, I am an idiot. I spent 4 hours on a project (a boarding ticket design for a ride on a flying carpet for a camp I volunteer at), which may have been at a working size of 20GB due to stupid choices in the canvas size. I generally only work with programs that have some form of autosaving, so I forgot to save during these 4 hours. Instead of saving when I finished it, I got curious and tried to export it to pdf first.
Since then GIMP has been on not responding.

I don't want to close it just in case it is just slowly working through putting everything in a pdf, but it has been stuck on using 41% of my CPU and 9GB of my RAM ever since, with only small fluctuations.

Is there anything I can do to save my work? I vaguely remember GIMP recovering some files after a crash, but am not sure about that. I am running Windows 10, so sadly no Linux tricks
