Self-Directed Schema Possible ?
Hello everyone!
I won't go into much detail about my multiple medical diagnosis, but I was wondering if it's possible to slowly practice schema therapy in daily life through self directed means of journaling/any other method that is effective. I am ready to invest a couple of years into this. The reason I am not looking to get a professional is because I have no money for it right now, truly, no income source etc.
I have changed therapists over the years, 4 of them so far and am on medication as well. I suspect because of my AvPD I am having a hard time getting the most out of the sessions and it becomes a repetitive cycle of hitting a plateau and not improving beyond a point, I am a pretty self aware dude, more than most people are. It's enough for me to recognise the patterns as they are happening or after the fact, a lot of times I miss them entirely and have to go through a conflict to understand it and reflect on it. I don't think I can afford to go to therapy anymore, so I was wondering what can be effective ways to go through the book Reinventing Your Life.
It would be great if I can get some pointers through someone who has some proficiency for Schema Therapy, of course, not as medical advice, just as a way for me to spend some time nurturing myself, until my funds are in a better position to be able to afford a therapist.
