Hey /r/Landscaping - we need your help!

My partner and I moved into this rented accomodation around a year ago and we've managed to transform the back garden from being a boring jungle into something we love and are motivated to look after.

As you can see our front garden is a mess. Dead bushes, patches of dead grass, weeds at the wall and a concrete water access cover. We're at a bit of a loss of how to even approach it, even though our landlord has been more than cooperative in us trying to positively transform areas of the property.

Over to you guys, what are we looking at? What can we do? What would *you* do, what would you recommend?

Any thoughts, advice are more than welcome!
