Confused about end of S5E5

Quick recap: in the final scenes of the episode, Claude coaxes Tara into meeting the rest of her group at the underground. Meanwhile, Taverner has brought Roddy and his laptop to MI5’s geek squad to figure out what the code the group put on it was meant to do. The end reveals Tara to be the real mastermind behind the Libyan plot and the episode ends with the “blinding” of MI5.

But I’m very confused about the logistics of what I just watched.

I think the show was conveying that whatever the geek squad did in the basement, by running the code on a “closed loop” which wasn’t what it had done originally, is what caused the blackout. Or maybe the code broke out of whatever containment they thought it was in, and caused the blackout. Doesn’t really matter, because the end implication is the same: if that’s what happens, it means the Libyan’s were banking on MI5 introducing their code willingly into the database. Like, that was their plan. But that doesn’t make any sense to me because they couldn’t have possibly known that MI5 would do that…right? Unless I missed something?

But Tara, after entering the subway, doesn’t do anything other than drop the coat with the tracker and then give MI5 the slip. I didn’t see her do anything before joining up with her crew that could be interpreted as causing the blackout.

So I’m at a loss. I either don’t understand what the Libyan’s plan / there’s a massive plot hole or the show didn’t do a great job of showing it.

Haven’t watched the finale yet so if it’s explained there just let me know, no spoilers please.

Tiamat’s Wrath: How quick did you realize that mountain man is…

…Amos?

I’m on page 144, in the scene where Teresa goes to meet Timothy and we, the reader, meet him for the first time. Teresa is complaining about a myriad of things, including Holden, and then Timothy says:

“For what it’s worth, you’re not the first person that felt like the captain was a splinter they couldn’t dig out”

And I thought it was odd for this guy who, from all the context we’re given thus far, wouldn’t have any reason to address Holden this way. But then a moment later I remembered Amos’ previous name, and it clicked. I’ve only just met Timothy and I have no doubt exactly who it is. And it even tracks with all that we know about Amos during the years between PR and TW: he went to Laconia for a dangerous mission and…that’s it. I love it!

So how quickly did you figure out Timothy’s real identity?

Question about S2E7

At 8:44 of this episode, we’re told the ship we see Gunny on is the MCRN Scirocco. This is reinforced when Commander Thorsen tells Gunny is she is on the Scirocco a few moments later. But then about a minute later he says that Sutton - the guy who had been Gunny’s commanding officer over the last couple episodes - was killed with 11 others on the Scirocco.

So Gunny is on the ship that we saw get shot up in the previous episode? The way the dialogue plays out it makes it seem like the ship that Sutton was on was lost, but it’s the same name as the ship she’s on now? I got really confused and rewatched this scene a couple times to confirm the ship names were the same. Was this an oversight by the writers / showmakers at the time?
