Hi all,

Second time posting on this site and I was hoping someone was able to ease my mind. My American Pitbull terrier has what we think is epilepsy. Long story short his seizures have gotten worse between the last few months. Has anyone had any experience with something like this? We started at two a month and were around 4-6 and he’s having cluster seizures as well. We have emergency medicine for him for when he has more than three a day and emergency medicine for him if he goes longer than 5 minutes. Could this be something else? We asked about an mri but he doesn’t have any other brain tumor symptoms besides the seizures and it’s a lot of money to maybe tell us what we already know. I also am not sure if we can afford brain surgery or chemo if it is a tumor. He sees his vet regularly and a neurologist. I guess I want to know if anyone has had any experience with a dog who has more than an average amount of seizures and how to cope? It’s so hard seeing him like this.

Side note incase anyone asks. His recovery time is normal typically sometimes if feels like he’s getting better but if he goes two weeks seizure free and then has one it usually takes him a little longer to bounce back. Usually less than 10 minutes. His seizures last 1-2 minutes longest one was 4. He is on phenobarbital and keppra daily 2 times a day. Keppra is extended. His is on Clorazepate for when he has cluster seizures for 24 hours three times a day. I am not sure what his emergency medication is that we use for when it’s longer than 5 minutes because luckily we have not had to use / refill that. He also only eats his prescription dog food and pill pockets. We just found out about taking his temp so I don’t have an average reading of that since I just ordered a thermometer from Amazon.
