Pertronix wiring

So in the process of improving on the "Drunk with a screwdriver" maintenance of the previous owner of my 68 F-250, I am sorting out the electrical system. The previously added Pertronix module, as we all probably know, needs 12 volts or it wont run right. I didn't want to just cut the resistor wire to bypass it, so I poked around and found that the right hand small post on the starter solenoid is off with the key switched off, 12v with the key on, and stays 12v with the key in "Start."

Is there any reason not to wire the module to that that anyone can think of? I couldn't think of a reason, but I wanted to put it out there.

I'm trying to retain the ability to just go back to points if this thing ends up being more trouble than it's worth, but for now it's working fine.

What say you?

Radiator fan sitting low in shroud?

I recently bought 68 F-250 with a 390 and C-6 in it from a mercury marauder. When i bought it it had an awful tiny radiator fan in it which didnt do much at all and a disintegrating fan shroud. i have replaced it with an 18" flex fan and a new shroud, I also spaced the fan a little closer to the radiator I noticed that the fan sits low in the shroud with maybe a 1/2" of clearance on the bottom and about 2" on the sides and like 3" on top. PO had the wrong engine mounts in it and the transmission mount was "bluetooth style" so I replaced those and it made it a little better.

So I guess I'm just wondering...Is your radiator fan centered in the shroud? Thanks!

1/24 Model Shipways Muscongus Bay Lobster Smack

In an effort to clear the bench of long neglected projects, I finished this one today. My first wooden ship model! Kit is good quality with decent directions, though I went my own way in a couple places, and support is good, I had to order a couple new wood sheets at one point and they sent them free of charge This was a really enjoyable experience and I'm definitely going to do another ship model sometime soon :)

How'd I do wood model builders? :)

1/72 Sword TBF-1 Avenger

Not the greatest kit but I'm quite happy with the results.... just don't look at the antenna or the pitot tube or they'll fall off lol. Okay with critique :)

It's May 24th 2026, Happy AMT day! Get your flairs here!

Every year on this sub we open the window for members to add or change username flair on May 24th. This is our little way of celebrating National AMT Day passed by the House of Representatives in 2008 , Resolution #444. We all have a great responsibility in our profession regardless of aircraft size or use. If you don't remember it then read over the Mechanic's Creed written by Jerome Lederer in 1941.

With that said............... On with thr flairs! Mods will open the post for comments when the 24th arrives.

THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION POST. The ONLY thing we want to see commented from a user is the exact flair they wish to request and will post as many characters as formatting allows us to squeeze into the flair block. As others have learned, if you leave a top level comment that is going to be your flair for the next year!

Rules for Flair:

Keep it clean, keep it within current sub rules, keep it simple: No Foul language. Submit your requested flair and only your requested flair: No back stories, or explanations. This will help us Mods quicky copy/paste and edit that user’s flair.

Emoji's will be allowed this year, but limited to 1 emoji only along with text. The following emoji's are not allowed: 🍆 , 💦 , 🍑 , or 💩 .

Be patient: We expect a rather large number of requests to come through, so we will have to physically go through all the posts and edit that user’s flair. You will know when your flair has been added when a Moderator comments “Done” on your post.
