Can a Minolta 5000/Maxxum 5000 shutter move with the back open and/or without lens?
A friends mother gifted me her old Minolta 5000/Maxxum 5000 and it appears the shutter blades may be stuck.
I held the shutter in bulb mode with the back open and without a lens attached (and then both at once), to see if the shutter would open. It appears blades move up from below, but the blades that usually block the opening do not move out of the way. It occurred to me that there could be a mechanism preventing the blades from moving when the back is open or when no lens is attached to prevent accidental exposures while changing the lens? Not sure if this is even possible but figured it'd be worth asking before attempting to disassemble it. Couldn't find anything in the manual or a video of someone firing the shutter in this way.
Does anyone know if this model should be able to open the shutter without a lens and/or with the back open, or alternatively does anyone have a method of testing this without just shooting a roll of film?
