X700 Aperture not visible

Hi, this is my Minolta x700.

Since I bought it, I can't see clearly the aperture through the viewfinder. The glass seems to be clear so I don't know if there is something missing or anything.

Do you have any guesses?

Minolta SRT303b - Suitable for winter?

I'm a relative beginner to film and live in a tropical country. I'll be taking a trip in the winter, where the temperature there is regularly in the -20 celsius range. I have no experience at all shooting in colder climates, and my camera manual has no advised range on what temperatures it can function in.

Will I still be able to shoot with my camera (Minolta SRT 303b) in this weather, and is there anything I need to watch out for? I'm extremely nervous that irreparable damage will happen to my camera.

Thanks!

Just got this Limited Edition, don't know why or how. [Read]

So, I decided to bid on a Boxed and complete Minolta AF 100-200 f4.5, as I wanted to compare it to my trusty 70-210 f4 Beercan. Got the deal at 9,50€ plus shipping. Steal on its own to be frank.

The one singular collage showed the lens and the packaging. Nothing more. The description also never mentioned anything like a camera...

So as I picked up the box I wondered why it was so heavy. I was hoping the 100-200 would be much lighter than the beercan, I thought to myself.

Opening the box revealed a 7000 box with a shiny (OH SHINY) Sticker. I heard and seen about these 7000 limited edition models, I know they aren't worth that much... But there it is! With all its gold lettering and in working condition it even had a quantaray (don't ask me) 24mm f2.8 attached to it.

I have not cleaned anything yet, as I wanted to capture the state it has arrived in.

It seems like I can't escape receiving more and more Minoltas... They even show up when I don't actually buy them knowingly...

That's my crazy bit of luck this week. Can't believe it.

Mallorca for the eclipse [minolta riva, Porta 400]

Shot on my trusty Minolta Riva Zoom. Tried to capture the full eclipse on this little travel cam and got some interesting results + some other fun pics from the trip.

Minolta 5000

Ok, so I’m downsizing and came across the Minolta. Obviously in bad shape and probably doesn’t work. But before I toss it in electronic recycle, I thought I’d ask if anyone takes these for spares parts? Would be free (plus shipping).

Maxxum 7000 Degrading Rubber.

I was gifted this camera and the rubber on the grip and battery door has completely crumbled away. Is there a suitable replacement for it? I know a leather worker and was thinking about having her make a replacement for it out of leather. Is this a good option, or is there something better?

Minolta publishes deceptive specs on a number of their new cameras

Today Minolta is Minolta in name only (the name is simply licensed). They misrepresent their digital camera specifications to the point where I question the legality. For example the specs for MND35 specs it as a 64MP camera. Though the file is 64MP, the image sensor is only 13MP, therefore the maximum detail captured can never be greater than 13MP. The same is true for the MND70 the spec says 48MP but the sensor is only 12MP. You could in effect purchase any camera with 12-13MP and then post process your image with any free upscale tools or Adobe's Photoshop generative upscale function and achieve the same results.

I'm not saying these are bad cameras, they could be excellent cameras for what they are. Specs are never the whole story. In fact using these cameras set to their native resolution 12-13MP with image stabilization off may yield the best results. You can always upscale in post and achieve the exact same results. One other point, the effective resolution of the camera is limited by the resolving power of both the lens and the sensor. Having a high pixel count sensor behind a lower resolution lens achieves nothing and many other factors also affect image quality, dynamic range, color depth, signal to noise ratio and so on and so on.

My point is when shopping for a new camera you should compare true specifications, features vs price, and real world images before making your decision.

Eyes (Minolta Autocord, Kentmere 200)

One of the portraits I made during a small local festival which I think came out exceptionally well. We had a fun conversation and a fun moment shooting this one and some photos with and of her friend as well.

White light leak?

I've got a Minolta X-570 that recently (within the past two years) had a full CLA from Garry's Camera Repair which included light seal replacement. I bought it from someone else who had no issues with the camera, and my first roll had no issues either.

However, my second roll had 4 or 5 photos with this sort of white vertical band that you see on the left side of the photo. It's only 4 or 5 photos out of a roll of 36, and the banding is always on the left hand side but not necessarily the same spot. As you can see in these two photos, one is practically all the way to the left of the frame while the other has a gap between the white band and the left side of the photo. There's a few other photos that I could show, but they show my family's faces.

I feel like I usually see red/orange light leaks, but mine (or at least I assume they're light leaks) are white. Is there a reason for this? The light seals look perfect, clearly newly replaced and without any gaps or fraying. Is my only recourse to remove the seals and replace them myself?

Some shots around Gatineau/Ottawa in Canada

All taken on either Minolta SRT 101 or X-70, mostly Kodak Gold 200.

I have 2 more rolls that need develloping from the SRT101 and I will be switching to the X-700 I just got.

Mostly used Minolta MC Rokkor PF f1.4 or MD 28mm f2.

This is my first couple or rolls since 2000 or so.

Love my Minoltas.

Best shots so far from my new Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200 (2004)

Really enjoying this camera so far! Just used it for a few days but hope to use it for landscapes, nature, and macros. Also some unexpectedly good, unplanned still lifes (haha). Quite good for the time it was released (2004).
