Picked up my grail CCD Pentax DSLR with kit lens, SD card, battery, charger, case, and sync cable for $65

This was listed on FB Marketplace place for $70 for weeks until I finally picked it up Saturday night on my bike ride for $65. It came in an excellent large Pentax case along with 4 fresh AAs and a 512MB SD card. It works great and I even got some nice night shots along the ride I'll share later. Hoping I can run it off RCRV3s provided proper 3V voltage output and use it with some nice film era AF Pentax glass. I have a Pentax F 35-80mm f/4-5.6 SMC, Pentax Takumar F Zoom 70-200mm f/4-5.6, and Sigma 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 II Macro Zoom on the way. Hoping to use this for macro, nature, landscape, and urban streetscape photography, primarily on bike rides. Quite a fitting return to Pentax for me as I got started with photography using an Asahi Pentax K1000 and two lenses (50mm and 70-210mm IIRC) I got at a yard sale 20 years ago for $10.

Best shots so far from my new Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200 (2004)

Really enjoying this camera so far! Just used it for a few days but hope to use it for landscapes, nature, and macros. Also some unexpectedly good, unplanned still lifes (haha). Quite good for the time it was released (2004).

Third time is the charm for good cat portraits (Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200, 2004)

My cats make such great subject material and are so challenging to photograph. I should call them calibration cats.

Bleached leaves of three (Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200, 2004)

Single photo close up from tonight - I forget of what type of plant - for u/auto_joker.

Stopped motion kitty (Minolta DiMAGE A200, 2004)

A rare capture of a very difficult subject, in rather poor lighting. Still impressed given those limitations.

Best three initial shots out of my new old Minolta DiMAGE A200 (2004)

I've definitely caught the Minolta bug already! Incredible color, rich detail, and warm lighting. Also shockingly effective macro performance. Definitely will add this to my rotation along with the out of nowhere good Toshiba PDR-4300, pocketable Samsung Digimax A7, and Nikon Coolpix 5000. I did use a monopod to steady the first two shots.

A first night with the Pentax K100D (2006)

The first shots I got on the bike ride back from picking up this $65 K100D bundle! It took a bit of finagling to get comfortable with the controls and to bump up ISO but I was happier than I thought with the empty road shots in Etchison, Maryland. I also got a couple macros that I thought were nice spur of the moment shots. I'll have to take this out during the day and see how it handles on landscapes and plant macros. Also I need to see if I can upgrade the firmware to handle SDHC cards. Anyhow, gotta love APS-C size classic CCD sensors!

Got my grail Minolta digicam (DiMAGE A200) with a ton of accessories for $28 and it's way better than I expected!

I consider the DiMAGE A2/A200 my grail Minolta digicam because of the combination of controls, 2/3" sensor, build quality, manual zoom, and high speed lens. I'd been scouring eBay and FB Marketplace for a K-M A200 when this listing showed up on FB for an A200 with two batteries, charger, sync cable, two CF cards (2GB and 512MB), and a remote for $20 + $8 shipping. So far it's better than I could have imagined. The EVF is the best I've ever used. I'll post some SOOC shots here and on r/minolta.

Bike cockpit (Nikon Coolpix L3, 2006)

Took my old point and shoot purchased in early 2010s Philadelphia for a photowalk tonight. Most pics came out blurry but a few were stunning like this one. 1/2.5" 5MP CCD, 3x Zoom-Nikkor/6.3-19.2mm/f/3.2-5.3, and no manual control except for exposure compensation. IIRC this picture was taken with -1EV.

Newest edition to the collection - Toshiba PDR-4300 (2003)

Lens cover, SD card storage, 1/1.8" 4MP sensor, fast 3x Canon zoom lens, full manual control, and even an on screen histogram. What's not to like? Faster start up and write times than expected as well.

Sleepy kitty closeups (Toshiba PDR-4300, 2003)

Not a disappointment at all! Right now I'd rank this between the Digimax A7 (best) and Kodak DC4800. I do notice a few noisy pixels, but I'm guessing that's more to do with low resolution and high ISO (400) than a bad CCD.

Cat portraits (Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28, 2008)

Really enjoying this camera and getting to know its settings better! I'm thinking I should adjust contrast and saturation on camera. I also changed the optical image stabilization setting to auto and that seems to have helped reduce blurring in more recent pictures. Nice pictures for a 1/2.3" sensor.

Just picked up this Kodak DC4800 for $32! Can't wait to grab some new batteries for it

Picked this up this afternoon for $32 with no charger or card. I plan to use another CF card I have and some Kastar aftermarket NP-80s. Also got a Samsung Digimax A7, Sharp VE-CG40U, and Toshiba PDR-4300 on the way to get that early/mid-2000s 1/1.8" CCD experience. Looking forward to some photowalks and photo rides (bike rides) with all of them!

This Marylander loved exploring your big beautiful city by Divvy bike! 125 miles in four days from Evanston to South Shore and Midway!

Hey r/chibike! I'm a DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) local and frequent cyclist who came to Chicago for four days to visit the city for the first time in 15 years. Not only did I love all the museums and conservatories I saw but I felt Chicago is the biggest bike friendly city I've ever seen. Your infrastructure is extensive and fantastic, the bikeshare covers so much area, the Divvy bikes are super comfortable, and drivers are a breath of fresh air compared to DC and Baltimore. I look forward to returning! Thanks and happy riding!

Riding to the freshly opened PJs Coffee of New Orleans in Flower Hill/Gaithersburg for my first beignets in 10 years

They were good! And excellent fuel for the ~15 mile ride back home. Well worth it.

Bike to Work Day 2026, Olde Towne Plaza

Quiet but good time at BTWD Olde Towne Plaza Friday afternoon. I probably saw 10-20 cyclists show up.
