Howdy y'all, I'm a photographer and I've been really wanting to try my hand at cars recently with two things in mind: just taking pictures of the car, and a car to use for a themed shoot. I'm looking for a "classic" car I could use for either thing.
For the first one, I don't care as much what the car is, since I would just be using it to try out angles and managing reflection off it and such. I'd be happy to provide pictures
For the second one, it would be cool to find a larger 4 door sedan with leather interior, or a smaller 2 door convertible. I have a gal I've worked with a couple times lined up for modeling, but finding a car has been more challenging for me. For this one, I'd be happy to do pictures of just the car AND would be willing to discuss a "rental" fee. I carry insurance as well, though I know how to work around delicate objects (i.e. I'm not going to sit someone on the hood with grommeted jeans. Heck I'm not going to sit someone on the hood at all.) I take that stuff pretty seriously.
If anyone knows of a place I could go or someone who might be interested, I would greatly appreciate it, and thanks in advance!
Lately one of the things I've been wanting to work on more is a slightly overexposed look, balancing very bright while trying not to completely blow out highlights. I took these recently of a local model looking to update her portfolio and was really happy with how they turned out. Not looking for feedback specifically but I'm never opposed to receiving it as long as it's helpful. And no I did not do anything to make her eyes pop they really were that blue.
I know this is a long shot. But y'all my number came up for jury duty the day before a 2 hour headshot gig. While im crossing my fingers that they end up not picking me, I'm worried that it could overlap and cause problems for my client.
I'm looking for a backup option, someone who might be able to step in. Of course you would be paid the session fee. The main requirements are that you can handle bulk headshots. My workflow is Headshot Tools with immediate delivery. I offer one touch up, but that's not required for you. If you can do delivery within a couple days that would be fine too.
They have signage and volunteers to help manage signups and the line. It's a conference so a great way to drop your business card for future referrals too (I got a few gigs booked out of last year's conference).
Drop a comment or DM me if you think you could step in. I'd be grateful!!
Edit: the gig would be on the 23rd from 5:30-7:30 (setup at 5, teardown from 7:30-8)
All,
I have finally gotten around to adding flair for both posts and users. I would love feedback on this, as in the near future I would like to implement mandatory post flair. Current categories:

My hope is that flair will make it more clear whether OP took the pictures or is in the pictures and using them for professional advancement. That is sometimes unclear I've noticed. I'm not opposed to adding more flair or breaking some things out, but I'd rather not have a mile long list either.
Please comment with feedback! I'd love to make sure that changes are actually beneficial to the community.
I have never seen a more surreal sunset. I've seen more magnificent ones, but this one literally felt like I was on a movie set. I was super happy with how this one turned out. It actually looks pretty close to how it was in real life, something I feel I often have a hard time capturing.
Scanned myself using an X-T5 with a 7artisans manual macro lens. Still figuring out the processing workflow I want to use. Getting use to having a little too much control over how the images look vs a lab scanned jpg 😂
It's just my T4 zoom, I'm sure others are perfectly fine. I got a T4 zoom for an OKAY price not long ago. Finally got the rolls back and... it's not working. Flash fires, shutter fires, but focus hit on 0 photos from one roll. Another roll was better but even with Tmax 3200 installed they were almost all underexposed. It's like if one thing worked another didn't. I don't have time for inconsistent point and shoot cameras.
And let's be honest, my Canon 90u is a GREAT point and shoot I love it. The only real reason I got this was that it hits 28mm which is something I want from a P&S. And my Lexio 70W is a little inconsistent with the sliding door power switch.
So, anyone want a free T4 Zoom? I'm sure I could sell it for parts it's DEAD TO ME NOW 😭😭😭
Or if anyone knows someone who does P&S repairs I'd love to put this in the pool for parts. I know there are a few people out there...
I'm looking to sell off my extra AE-1P with a couple lenses and a few small accessories. Looking to sell as a bundle, but willing to sell separately as long as the body sells first.
The AE-1 Program is in very good condition. The first thing you'll notice, which some may not appreciate, is that the leatherette has been replaced with a new fabric wrap from cameraleather.com. I think it looks quite nice but if it's not your cup of tea then best to get that out front. I have opened the camera and cleaned it out. I repaired the common mirror squeak. The battery door is original and crack free. The mirror pad is in good condition, and the light seals appear to be functional and there are no light leaks. The shutter curtain is clean and blemish free. I have shot a couple rolls through it and all speeds appear to be operating nominally, with a good meter, checked against a Sekonic. Auto aperture and shutter speed program mode function. The camera is lightweight and a joy to use. I just don't need two.
Comes with the red shutter button shown, and a brand new battery. Even happy to throw in a roll of B&W Tri-X 400 film if you really want to be able to get this and literally start using it immediately.
Both lenses are clean and fungus free. Both are in very good repair, with general light wear but no major blemishes on the bodies that I can see. Both apertures are clean and oil free, and operate as expected.
Asking $250 which includes shipping to the US, as well as PP fees.
TL;DR This is my thoughts on the Lobster Holder AIO, and hopefully helpful to others going through this too.
Y'all I spent a good couple of weeks spiraling trying to figure out what scanning set up I want to use. For context I was staring down the barrel of about 20 rolls. Royal We offers the cheapest dev and scan I have found for high-quality scans. They will do TIFF scans this development for about $17 USD. That's a fair price, but burning through rolls like I am right now that's unsustainable.
I pretty much only shoot 135 right now. I started by looking for cheap but decent quality scanners online. I found a few decent ones at Goodwill but before I pulled the trigger I learned these aren't great for scanning 135. I found a couple of those dedicated scanners from Minolta and Nikon, but I felt pretty unsure about them.
Eventually I settled on using one of my X-T5's, but then my problem was finding a setup to go with it. I pretty quickly settled on the 7Artisans 60mm macro lens based on feedback I'd seen about it, and the full manual bit was nice too so I don't have to worry about the focus or aperture changing between shots.
The most frustrating thing was finding a carrier that hit my price point approximately. The way I'm burning through rolls, I knew that the lens was already covered by me getting this instead. But I didn't want to drop $400-$500 more just for a carrier that came with a stand. The Valoi easy35 seemed nice, but I didn't want to wait for V2 and I read enough frustrations with the V1 that I decided against it. Honestly it probably would have been fine or easy enough to correct.
The other frustration was just finding carriers. I felt like every time I did a search I found another one I hadn't seen before. I got turned onto Lobster Holder by a comment from a couple years ago here (I think). I found they had an "all-in-one" (AIO) option that included the light AND a rail system for less than $300 which was great! I think that I can upgrade to a copy stand later with what I have too.
So now I've had it for a bout a week. It's not without its nuances. Many labs cut and sleeve their negatives, which is nice for storage. But the AIO definitely works better with longer strips. It honestly seems to do a decent job of holding the negative flat, but only if you get both sides in the feed slot, so the first negative in a cut strip has little wiggle room for that without cropping the image. I think that's its biggest weakness, but it's workable for me.
It comes with the CS-LITE from CineStill which I don't need to talk about. It works well, I'm happy with it.
The whole thing is 3D printed and it's a pretty clean print. The screw that tightens the light and carrier mount is... crunchy though. It works, just doesn't feel sturdy. Granted this is a pretty stationary setup so it's not a HUGE deal. Also, leveling the carrier was a little fiddly and took a minute as it kept snagging on itself if it wasn't perfectly straight. It also didn't include any instructions so I had to look at a picture of it to figure it out. Lastly, while it's nice that they include a lens support, it's a 3D printed screw design so it feels a bit rough as well. It also comes with a hood which was nice, though I'm not using it at the moment.
Overall I'm happy though as it's a nice setup for a decent price which I feel was worth it. I've included some images of my setup and a few scans I've done. Still figuring out a good workflow on scans. But that's another topic.
