To All The Leaving Certs of 2026 <3

To All The Leaving Certs of 2026,
Today, as I am writing this, it's Friday, the 21st of August, 00:00am. It’s your results day! And you’ll be getting your results in 10 hours from now.

Today, you will either open an envelope, or you will open the Candidate Self Service Portal, and in it you will find a number, and I want you to know that number does not define you as a person.

You have sacrificed sleep, skipped night outs, and carried the weight of this exam for months. You may have had tears of frustration, and maybe tiny victories along the way. This grade that you will receive is a snapshot of how you performed on a few specific days, but it is not how intelligent you are, how kind you are, or the incredible person you are going and growing to be.

Your path does not end here. It begins. Some doors may open today, and others might close, but the best adventures can often start with a detour.

This time last year, I was in your exact position. I missed my first choice by 40 points. Did I get the points I wanted? Not exactly.. But I can assure you that today I am happy with my chosen course. In fact, I occasionally join a Law Lecture with my friend for fun. (Law was my first choice!)

In other words, whether it's 3 months from now, or a year from now, this will be a fond memory of how you got to where you are at that moment.

Lastly, Congratulations to every single one of you! Please celebrate yourself tonight! And wishing you all the best on your new journey!

Sincerely,
A LC 2025 graduate :)

confused!! PLEASE GIVE ME FEEDBACK! :)

Had to repost because I realised my previous one was EXTREMLEY long.

Context:
Moved towns at 9, met a guy (11). We had an Instant mutual attraction (smiles, eye contact, but barely ever talked.), when I was 11, he asked if I liked him in front of his group of friends and I panicked and said no.

Aftermath:
He pulled away. At 13, when I was walking, and I saw him, I smiled at him but he ignored me completely as if I wasn't even there (rightfully so). Roughly 6 months later, I saw him in his car, he looked at me expressionless, I looked away, looked back, smiled but he remained expressionless. At 15, I realized I hurt him, I tried to apologize, he declined my social media request, I saw him at a shop with his dad, when he saw me he did the 90 degree turn and then told his dad to check out fast. I apologised to him eventually, however claimed he didn't remember what happened. I later found out he was in a long term relationship! So I backed off. They broke up probably a year later.

Post-apology:
However, He started staring again. Noticed a cashier walking up and down, like they wanted to be noticed, when I looked it was him, his face was red and he was chugging down his drink, we both had a genuine smile. After about a year of not seeing him, I noticed a guy that looked exactly like him, he was cycling out of his house and I was approaching, and when he saw me he nearly fell over, then he quickly switched lanes. It wasn't until I looked at him that I realised it was him. We both looked for like a second. Once I started uni, I found out we both took the same bus, when I saw him approaching the bus stop, we both stared at each other for 6 seconds before I looked away. There were a couple more minor incidents, but then probably 6 months later, I entered a restaurant and there was a window, and I thought it was him. He was sitting on a spinning chair facing his friends. I entered and turned to see if it was him, but when I did he had already done a 360, and was staring at me. We both stared for about 3 seconds before I looked away again.

Now (19 & 21):

I've come to find out that he has a new girlfriend, who he started dating before the bus incident which was nearly a year ago now. And, he did this in his previous relationship, and now this one.. So now I'm left confused because why did he stare at me like that if he was already in a relationship..? I've asked friends, even family and some suggest he may like me still, but doesn't want to pursue considering I rejected him all those years ago. But I'd like to hear your guys opinion!

(There were other similar incidents that happened, however I didn't include them because the post would be extremely long!)

Thank you! :)

confusion (LONG STORY..)

Hi Guys, I've been wanting to post on here for a quite some time! Also, apologies if this is the wrong subreddit to be posting on!!

For some context:

I moved from one town to another when I was 9 years old which is how I met this guy. When we met, it was almost like we instantly liked each other, well I did anyways, and I would see him continuously. He was 11 at the time. We never really talked to each other, we would occasionally say hi, and smile and have constant eye contact. Roughly 2 -3 years of this constant smiling and staring, he asked me if I liked him, and honestly I was taken aback. I was 11, dumb and scared so I said no, thinking he was joking about considering he asked in front of his whole group of friends.

After that, everything shifted, and I basically didn't see him often anymore. 2 years later, I was walking to the beach, when I noticed him from a distance, we were both walking towards each other, stupidly enough I decided to smile and look at him, but he didn't look at me or smile (rightfully so), it was as if I didn't exist. Of course I was a 13 year old, so I was like wtf, but now as I'm more mature I understand and probably would do the same thing if it were vice versa.

Roughly 6 months after that incident, I was walking home with a friend, when I noticed a familiar car, which ofc was his. I remember looking into the passenger seat side, to see him, leaning against the dashboard staring at me. I looked away, looked back, smiled, but he didn't change his expression. It was just blank. He didn't look away until I was out of view.

It wasn't until I was 15 when I realised that I had hurt his feelings that badly. I wanted to apologise and obviously tell him the truth but that was mission impossible since, I barely saw him, and I didn't know much about him to find his social media. Eventually I did find him, I requested him which he declined so I decided to leave it at that. About 3 months after that I found him at a shop with his family, I was coming to get a specific item when I saw him and he did this kind of 90 degree turn, not looking at me, but instantly told his dad to go check out. By this point all I wanted to was to talk to him and apologise so ofc I was hurt, and funny enough the next day I messaged him to apologise, he responded saying no worries and that he doesn't really remember so yeah. I later realised he was dating someone who he had been with for almost 4 years so I left him alone.

Currently:

After the apology, everything shifted. I would see him often, I wouldn't do anything, in fact I expected him to be the same considering he was in a long term relationship. But anytime I saw him, he would look back and stare. 6 months after the apology, I was at a shop with my friend, when I noticed a cashier walking up and down. I looked at the cashier briefly to realise it was him. His face was tomato red and he was chugging down some drink. I was getting soft served ice cream when I realised I would have to ask him. So I did, it was awkward and I couldn't even look at him and a big queue had formed, and he actually walked out and handed me the ice cream. We both smiled and it was really genuine. His long term gf and him broke up about a couple months later, which I found out pretty later on.

When I was 16-17 I didn't see him for nearly a year due to me being busy in school and stuff, but when I did, it was when I was walking and he was cycling. He was cycling out of this hidden area and I was walking up when he saw me and nearly fell off. I didn't recognise it was him until he switched lanes and we both looked at each other. Then I started uni, I was at the bus stop when I noticed him walking to the bus stop too. We made intense eye contact, possibly 5-6 seconds long before I looked away. Another time, was when I was behind him on the bus and he payed, and waited at the stairs, I could feel him looking but I chose not to look. Then he later came downstairs talked to his friend, kind of turned around and looked directly at me, but I had a rbf so I kinda destroyed that.

My final interaction with him was when I entered a restaurant. There was a window nearby and I remember looking at him and thinking is that him? He was sitting on a chair that spins and facing his friends, there was about 5-6 guys. I entered the restaurant and was at the till and decided to do a 360 to see if it was him, and when I looked he had already done a 360 and was staring right back at me. We had intense eye contact again, it was roughly 3 seconds long and I looked away again because my friends were with me, and his friends would probably think wtf am i staring at lmfao. (We're currently 19 and 21..)

HOWEVER, I've come to realise that he has a new girlfriend, who he had actually started dating before the bus moment, so nearly a year maybe even more I'm not sure.. so now Im left wondering if he's just playing with me, or is he confused, and why would he do all that if he has a new gf..? I've asked cousins and friends and they suggest he likes me but is scared, but I would love your guys opinion!!!

There were also a few interactions I left out in case I bore you guys considering how long this already is!!!

Thank youu!!! <33
