Is it normal to not be able to get in contact with your claims adjuster?

I've been trying to get in contact with my claims adjuster for over 48 hours via text, phone call, and email; all I've gotten back is silence. I reached out to their supervisor via same methods, no answer back.

Is this normal? Should I stop trying to contact them directly and just call the 1-800 number with my questions? I feel bad for bothering these folks when someone is already assigned to my claim.

ETA: thanks for the responses. Just to clarify, I'm not expecting the CA to drop everything to cater to my needs; I understand that, much like most folks, they're over-worked and doing what they can. But 48 hrs seemed like an excessive wait to me, seems like the responses are confirming that.

My parked car was rear-ended in the dumbest way possible

It looks like a hit and run, but the guy did call the cops and self-reported the accident, so for that I am grateful and only mildly infuriated. But honestly, how the fuck do you hit the lone car with nothing around it????
