Looking for a good pump for a 2000 gallon pond and another for a 1000 gallon pond!

I’ve been browsing Amazon and everything I come across has less than decent reviews. Most pumps stop working at random or turn off sporadically does anyone have any suggestions?

DIY bog filter

I feel like I’ve watched 500 videos on TikTok and some on YouTube of how to do this but for some reason, I’m still confused. I think I’m getting two different kind of fog filters confused like some of them have this PVC pipe going from the bottom of the fog filter all the way up to the top and sticking straight out and then others don’t have that at all I’m just confused. Basically I want to turn this tote into a bog filter that has peagravel on the top that I could put plants in I have four 1” bulkhead fittings and four 1.5” I also have a drill of Course but not sure what size hole saw to use for my 1” and 1.5” bulkhead fittings, and I have a tote and that is all. Would anybody possibly be able to tell me what exactly I need to do this? Or why I’m getting so confused am I getting two different filter styles mixed up or am I just dumb?

I think I made a mistake. HELP!

Water test: Nitrate 5.0ppm Ammonia 2.0ppm Nitrite 2.0ppm PH 7.6 High range PH 8.0

———-

My first mistake was rescuing eight Koi fish. Nobody needs to tell me that I have too many fish in here or that it’s too small for them, trust me, I know. They are moving into a 1700 gallon above ground pond in a few months. Currently I have a 470 gallon above ground pond. I have a spectacular filter in there, but it is obviously not enough for the amount of fish that I have in here. I also have four sponge filters constantly running with air stones. Along with some water lettuce. In total there are:

8 young koi (5” or so) 5 comet goldfish (1-2”) 3 mosquito fish (tiny)

About three days ago, I did a 60 to 70% water change because the water was just getting gross. I will say, I tend to keep my pond as clean as possible. The water is almost always clear, I use the pond vac anytime there’s excess waste on the bottom and it sucks it all up very nicely. BUT I realize that clear doesn’t mean good. I decided to also change the filter, but here’s where the mistake is… There was fish poop everywhere on it and I took it out, hosed it off with tap water and then put it back in the filter and then back in the pond. I now know that was not a good idea. I didn’t touch any of the sponge filters. All four of them are still running however I noticed that one of my goldfish started flashing today… Now, these goldfish have been a problem since the first day I got them. Two of them have had to have a few weeks in a hospital tank for parasites, both of those goldfish were added back into the pond about a week ago. I wanted to start by testing the water before I worried about parasites again and here were my results:

Nitrate 5.0ppm Ammonia 2.0ppm Nitrite 2.0ppm PH 7.6 High range PH 8.0

The nitrite and ammonia are SO high! The ammonia doesn’t really surprise me, but it kind of does at this level because even with the extreme amount of fish in here, my ammonia levels almost never test high. But still, it is high nonetheless. Nitrite I don’t know anything about it. The only thing I know is that disturbing the bacteria in that biological filter is what probably caused this.

The point of my post: WHAT DO I DO? And: I keep prime and stability on hand at all times. What other products for high or low levels of quite literally anything should I be keeping on hand. Or I guess what are their products in general? I am new to us. These Koi or rescued from someone’s house who used to invite their friends over to go fishing out of their quiet pond…

How can I treat the whole pond?

I just pulled out two of my comets from the pond who appear to have fin rot or something similar. One of them has a tail that is almost completely gone. The pond is about 500 gallons so seeing the little guys can be quite difficult, but I spotted this and pulled them out. I have a few Koi fish who are in this pond as well. I cannot separate every single fish in a different hospital tank. Is there a way that I can treat the entire pond without putting the koi in danger?

LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A NIGHTMARE

Ok so from what I’ve gathered these are detritus worms. But holy sh*t they are literally everywhere all over the glass floating all throughout the tank. I am so confused because it was not even like this this morning. But they’re everywhere. I think this is because I moved plants from one of my grow tanks here and I just realized that one of my grow tanks also has these. Great. Is my fish going to be bothered by this? He is a beta fish. I know this is because I overfeed him so I’m going to have to get that under control. Is there a way that I can safely get rid of these quickly without harming him? Are there any fish that I could throw in this tank for a week or so that would eat these? I mean this looks like an absolute nightmare.

Most importantly, do they harm my betta?

Also, I’m not sure if this will allow me to attach two videos, but in the second video if it uploads there is a second type of worm at the bottom of the tank it does not look like planaria because it does not have a shovel shaped head. But it is more of a pinkish tone and it is significantly larger than these little white thread like things.

Anyone experience pulsing tinnitus (hearing your heartbeat / pulse wooshing sound in your ear after reta?)

They will tell you this is not a common symptom and I don’t think it is common, but I have read an overwhelming number of posts on other forums of people who have experienced this. I’ve also learned that this is a symptom of rapid weight loss too. I’m just curious if anyone else has experienced this here.

Melasma from GLP’s

My melasma has gotten horrible after using GLP’s. I was prescribed ozempic and then zepbound by my primary care physician through Kaiser specifically for weight loss. I’ve been on GLP’s for about 2 years. My melasma above my upper lip and my forehead and brows is so bad and I don’t know what to do. During the 4 months I was off of GLP’s it cleared up nicely. When I went back on it it returned. I know it’s from the GLP’s but I don’t know why or how to fix it. It isn’t from sun damage. Any advice

Could I get away with a 5 gallon tank?

Wouldn’t be long-term, but I am working on finding a tank that is either custom or used but the perfect size for the area I have in mind. Ideally would eventually be around 20 gallons. But could I get away with a 5 gallon tank for a few months? I’m thinking maybe five or six guppies?

Affordable koi for sale? Trying to avoid next day koi.

I am am a first time koi owner, not looking for anything high quality but trying to avoid using sites like next day koi as I have heard to stay away from them. I’d love to get a pair of butterfly koi and I like how they have very affordable prices $25-$55 for 3.5” … are there any other sites or breeders you’d suggest where I can find something like that and within this price range. I have a pond currently set up, pump and filter have been going for the past 4 weeks, water is good to go and has tested consistently over the past few days. I’m here to learn always but would love some suggestions on where to buy my first koi!

Attached photos of the ones I considered buying form next day.

Potted lily pads making water filthy!

I have a pot of Lily pads and of course when I dunk them in my 450 gallon stock tank all the dirt from the pot just makes the water filthy. Is there a way to make it to where I can still have them but maybe repot them in something else or with something else to where the soil they need doesn’t just get everywhere in my water?

Is my goldfish fat or pregnant?

OK, so I know that goldfish are not pregnant… However, I’m wondering if this one is sick, has an infection, eggs, I’m not really sure. I don’t know this fish. Well I received this one along with the other two giants next to them a few days ago. The other two giants seem to be just fine. The fatty with the belly however is acting different than the other two. They seem to stay very low at the bottom of the tank most of the time they aren’t as active, they seem to kind of do their own thing and be alone most of the time. They are obviously significantly fatter than the other two fish that they came with. I obviously don’t know if they are a female or a male, unfortunately. They are able to swim away and behave normally from time to time, but this fish seems very chill and laid-back compared to the others. They aren’t necessarily acting ill or doing anything super concerning other than that. I haven’t seen them flip over or turn on their side or anything that makes me think that we need to treat this like an emergency but I’m just wondering is this an egg situation or is there something that I can do or should do? Is this fish just fat?

I’ve watched countless videos of people for lack of better words, squeezing the eggs out of their fish, and I have tried to do that however, I did not try with much force as I did not want to injured the fish trying to do something that I don’t know how to properly do.
