The price of this

I am newer to this sub, but I thought this price was outrageous. Is this normal anywhere else? Over $17 for 100g.

The outer packaging was some type of fabric which I felt totally unnecessary. I did not purchase them. This is in Canada fyi. If you’re curious where, take a guess.

Have any contestants realized they know each other when the game started?

Excluding returnee seasons, Blood Vs Water, celebrities etc.

Have there been any two people who get there and have been like holy shit I met that person on vacation! Or like - we went to school together before I moved state. Or anything like that?

If not, I wonder if there are ways the recruitment prevents this.

* I have not seen every season.

Day 1 of my “Wellness Leave”

Actively in a chronic illness flair + complete burnout, so I am taking a sick leave from work. Although, I’m reframing it as a “wellness leave”.

I used to eat pretty healthy - non junk food vegan for years, lots of vegetables and whole grains, tofu, fruit, nuts etc. Over the last several years I developed a chronic illness which causes me a lot of pain and fatigue, I’ve developed alcohol dependency. I’ve reached an intense burnout from those factors, plus a stressful job and often stressful home life. I am beat. I stopped being vegan as I was not able to heal my eczema until I added fish (and bone broth) into my diet. Slowly, my relatively healthy eating habits changed and now I realize I rely on convenience foods too much, often have meals with no veggies, I’m eating refined carbs and fried foods, too much processed cheese, and even energy drinks and candy. I went from exercising daily and lifting weights to not exercising at all. I’ve truly lost myself. I’ve also graduated from “overweight” to “slightly obese” on the BMI chart. Also, my sodium levels are low and my white blood cell count is up. We don’t know why - I’m on medication for my high blood pressure which may be affecting my sodium. Also, my anxiety is out of control.

On this wellness leave, I intend to change my eating habits. Finally dive into the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle. Slow down. Eat well. Walk a lot. Manage stress better. Read books. Less screen time. Quality sleep. Eventually start lifting weights again if my pain subsides enough. Get some things done around my house to ease my mind. Learn that not everything must be done with intense urgency. Quit alcohol completely. Spend more time outside. Connect with friends more.

Anyway, this is breakfast of day 1. Two egg omelette with feta and lots of spinach, cooked in olive oil. Whole grain sourdough with avocado and EBTB seasoning, and some strawberries. I’m struggling a bit with the idea of limiting eggs, as I typically have two every morning, but I know I can easily have tofu scramble or tinned fish instead. Later, I’ll probably do a Greek salad with chickpeas, and dinner is planned to be baked bass fish with lemon, roasted potatoes, and whatever green veg we’re feeling (we have bok choy, green beans and broccoli atm). Maybe a second veggie too.

I plan to go back to work in a month. I hope to feel a lot better by then. Wish me luck.

Thank you, r/poutine

Months ago, I asked for the best poutine in Montreal/area. I got many answers and made a list. Over time, I eliminated a few based on seeing negative reviews of one or another. The one I consistently saw praised and brought up frequently was Alfa.

I am finally in Quebec for the weekend and went this morning. 11/10. These curds are unlike anything I have had before. Very impressed.

Les Foodies Festival?

Hi! I see this listed online but when I go to the website, it seems there is only information from last year. Can anyone confirm if this is happening this weekend?

I can’t find any other info on it.

Thanks!
