2024 Big Bend and upgrades
Lipstick finally got put on the Bronco. Below is what I've done so far.
Sound system - The first time I wired it up, I used an audiocontrol LOC with the t-harness which caused the amps to quickly turn off and on when the stop/start engaged. Once I disconnected the LOC and used the high level connections it stopped.
I had these RF amps (Rockford Fosgate R2-500X4, Rockford Fosgate R2-500X1) from a previous build and love them. They’ve had the hell beat out of them and just won’t die. However, the sizes were a huge challenge. I stole some install ideas from the G6 forum and made it work. I'm talking 1/8 - 1/16 of an inch of clearance to make the rear storage plastic panels fit properly. It took some time and patience to fit it all in.
- PAC LPHFD31 LocPro Advanced T-Harness (connect amps tpo
- Rockford Fosgate R2-500X4
- Rockford Fosgate R2-500X1
- Dash - 4” Kicker KS coaxial (Coaxial speakers are what I recommend, tweeters were too harsh for me)
- Kicker panels - 6.5” Kicker KS mids
- Rear pods - 6.5” Kicker KS coaxial
- Tailgate - 12” Kicker CompRT slim sub
- 6.5” Mabett speaker pods (essential sound upgrade)
Exterior - My daily commute is 23mi each way, so fuel mileage is very important. The goal was to get the lightest wheels and tires within my budget. $146ea at Summit. Free shipping.
- Vision 351 Flow BZ Matte Bronze (#351-7983BZ20) 17"x2"+20 offset 23.4 lbs (stock BB wheels are 17x7 +55 offset, 23.25 lbs)
- Yokohama Geolander AT/4 G018 (#110101911) - 285/70/17 117T, SL load @ 44.1 lbs. (stock BB tires are 35lbs.) I don't tow and only go off-road 3-4x year, so I wasn't too concerned with getting a higher load range.
- Bronco Classic 3pc Matte Black Fender & Bucking Bronco Trunk Emblems (#E2TZ-16228-BLK, E7TZ-16720-DBK)
- Underground Graphics Bronco 5-Bar stripes 2021+
