I have base battery now with no solar. If I purchased a solar setup and hooked to my battery. What happens in these scenarios?

I generate more kw that I am consuming - does base purchase all the excess

If the solar charges the battery do I get credits for this that offset anything used from the battery?

If grid is down will solar charge the battery and/or will it pass thru to the house?

If I generate less kw than consuming I assume this reduces my overall bill?

Has anyone installed around 4kw of solar, what was the cost? What all is needed besides panels?

I want to know before I upgrade to version 26 if nvidia 570 driver workround will still function. Thanks.

I am trying to get frigate to work as a native docker app under truenas 25.10.3.1. I am using the legacy nvidia 570 drivers with 1050ti. It seems the gpu is working just fine but I am having trouble getting frigate to use the gpu for detection support. Other hardware info:
I5-6400 with 16GB of RAM. Frigate is the only major application.

Chatgpt has my config look like this. It had me installing some new libraries and I had to download the model cache. Tensor rt image is not compatible.

Q: Should I try a custom docker image to get this working, or should I just get a intel BA310 GPU?

I have a dataset that I have shrunk using video encoding a lot of blu ray rips. This data set is also replicated to my backup server at remote location. I want to recover the space from both original and replica but every time I tried to remove snapshots, I get errors on replication and have to replicate from scratch. How can i do this without force scratch replications. here are the snapshots

I recently purchased and installed an A380 CPU on my truenas scale 25.10.3 machine. I can get ffmpeg to use hevc_vaapi encoding and it seems to work great, however, hevc_qsv will not work. I believe it is because the core kernel version under truenas is still 6.13, it only moves to 6.18 with version 26.

In order to use oneVPL I must have kernel 6.2 or higher.

I am using ffmpeg version 6.1.1 in a ubuntu 24.04 docker container. Anyone get QSV encoding working under trunenas scale, if so how?

I have some older TV shows that I have recording using HD Homerun. I am running plex on truenas as a docker app. Is there a good solution that I could put in place on truenas that would compress a certain library or dataset? I would like to test on some files then let it just work on the compression in the background, replacing the existing files as it goes.

I have my DECO MESH system step as a access point and DHCP is issued by the router it attaches to. Why do I get DNS requests in pihole from the primary device? Or could this be a caching issue?

I am looking for a way to backup my windows 11 PC and laptop to my truenas. I want something easy to use and easy to restore if I have a hardware failure. Is there any apps with a client software, or can I use native solutions in windows.

PS more than 10 years ago I had a windows home server. It had something like this.
