IJW: good luck, have fun, don’t die (2026)

Ok, to start I went into this experience with a profound love for Sam Rockwell so take that as you will.

This is the FIRST movie I can honestly use the phrase “raucous comedy” for and it be true. Absolutely clown shows ridiculous, and it works so perfectly. Gore Verbinski has always been very hit or miss for me, but this movie was a bullseye. The supporting cast and flashback scenes for them were also absolute hilarious, especially the one for Michael Peña & Zazie Beetz and don’t even get me started on how hard I was crying from laughing towards the end of Susan (Juno Temple) flashback. “Well, WE’RE not Muslim but YOU are” has already been repeated in my home more times than I can count 😂 Instant classic for anyone who likes irreverent, dark comedy and Sam Rockwell’s special version of unhinged ridiculousness. EASY PEASY 5/5 definitely suggest (available for streaming on Hulu rn)

IJW: Golden Kamuy: The Abashiri Prison Raid (2026)

If you like ridiculous Asian cinema, or live action interpretations of manga….. do yourself a favor and give this series a watch.

The action is ridiculous and unrealistic, but it truly adds to the whole aura of the movie. Being as it’s the third installment, I was fully prepared for this but was NOT prepared for the absolute hilarity of some scenes (ie the dinner scene that ends in sumo wrestling). It is absolutely chock full of action, humor, and is absolutely brimming with heart and the spirit of transitional Japan, showing how the conversion to a more globalist mindset in the country and the aftermath of the death of the shogunate while also leaning into the resilience and adaptation of their people. It also is very educational on the traditional Hokkaido Ainu practices and lifestyle. Easy 4.75/5

Happy belated birthday to my big guy. Anybody else’s bully turn into bloated roadkill after dinner time? 😂😂😂😂😂

Gave my boy Ozzy a nice steak for his birthday Friday and he spent most of the night like this afterwards. Good to know dogs get “the itis” also

Oklahoma/Illinois Circa 1970. Grandma Peggy, Abuelo Miguel & Auntie Loretta

Taken shortly before both elders passed tragically and right after my Pops got shipped out to his first tour in Vietnam. He did back to back tours and never saw either again, but he and his siblings always gush over how much my daughters and I are like the two of them ❤️

Grandma (19) and grandpa (23) in mid 1960 at their wedding. Two of the coolest cats to ever grace this planet 💔

I’m looking for info on how to build my own version of a modified tattoo machine I saw online. It was essentially a single coil style machine with a shaft suspended above the coil, (I assume) with some sort of magnets set into it, and it spins, making the concentric needle holder move up and down.

Really what I’m interested in is how exactly the electromagnet makes the shaft spin so balanced and steady. Any help appreciated.

Side note: I’m not a COMPLETE amateur, just out of the loop for many years. I have a degree in electronics repair, and recording studio repair and maintenance, have built small tube amplifiers, effects pedals, etc along with repairing soundboards.
