Help Removing Scratches from Aluminum
Hopefully, someone on here knows the best methods for what I'm trying to do.
I'm working on some deep scratches on a few small, irregularly shaped aluminum pieces that I am trying to restore to a flawless "liquid mirror" finish with a high gloss. The deepest scratches would not level out until I used P80 sandpaper, but it eats through a lot of the surrounding surface area.
Traditional hand-sanding with sanding blocks and sandpaper isn't working out very well because those products are oversized for the shapes and spaces I have to work with.
Is there a better way? Are there better methods, or perhaps some sort of tool or machine I could look into that would do a better job?
NOTE:
The pieces I'm trying to restore belong to Kirby vacuums, which are going to be listed for sale after I finish rebuilding them. I've posted two examples of what the aluminum looks like when professionally refinished. The finish you see there is what I'm going for, if not better. Photos are not my own.
