TIL the machine in the mushroom farm cave is a usable dehydrator (almost into Year 3)

Not actually today but a few days ago lol. I may be stupid™ and I thought it was a machine that made the "environment" suitable for the mushrooms. Finally bought the dehydrator recipe and went "wait... this looks familiar"

Thought folks might get a laugh out of that one at least 😭

(Funny thing is, this isn't my first time playing, and I got my first eval with all candles without knowing that, so I guess I'm doing good at least??)

[LF Advice] Do viewers (typically) prefer episodes or supercuts?

Hi all! Recently I've gotten back into streaming on Twitch, and I was also interested in using Youtube as a way to supplement that. Part of what I'm streaming on Twitch is longer game series that may take multiple sessions to finish playing, so I was curious about y'all's thoughts: would it be better to post to Youtube as episodes of a playthrough based on individual streams, or should I instead cut together/trim down the streams into one big video?

(Sidenote, supercut might not be the right word, but compilation didn't seem right either? What's the word for, it pls help 😭)

Any advice or thoughts are appreciated! I know this question will probably boil down to "do what you prefer" but I'm mainly curious about others' experiences and whatnot. Just trying to get more knowledge before I make a decision!

EDIT: Wanted to note that I posted this in a different sub before, but I got a notif from Reddit that I should post it here instead 😅

EDIT 2: Clarification: when I talk about episodes, I mean vids that would be properly edited down, not just uncut VODs! I'm trying to ask something more around the difference between a series of 30m edited videos posted on a weekly/biweekly schedule vs one coherent edited video posted whenever all the streams for a series are done and I can get around to edit them. I'm thinking of like... serialized shows vs a movie, if that makes sense. Everything is still appreciated though!

Feeling hopeless. How can I make progress?

Hey all, I've been stuck for a while now and I could really use some help.

I (26M) have been trying to figure out how to make progress in life, but everything feels unrealistic or too far away. My career of choice for over half my life has been software development, but after running out of money to go to college during my first year of university (7/8 years ago now), failing to get into the industry since then, and seeing the rise of AI and the pivot to using it for coding... things seem pretty bleak right now.

I have a lot of interests and things that I would love to do, but nothing seems like it's possible to make a living from. I've wanted to become a game developer for ages, and I feel like I have the skills for indie games- I make art, I code, I even do music sometimes- but actually being *successful* feels out of reach. Same with straight up selling my art or doing commissions, same with selling my coding skills in some way, same with my interest in streaming on Twitch... it all feels impossible.

When I was in college, I specifically went into a game design track. I have affiliate status on Twitch. I worked for 8 years on a handful of Discord bots, a couple of which got very popular before life and financial circumstances ultimately forced me to shut them down. I feel like I should be able to use these skills to make a modest living, but I just don't know if that's possible.

Frankly, I've never wanted to be rich, and I'm happy to live off of maybe $40k a year. Under normal circumstances I would just opt for a job bagging groceries or doing something that is easy to get into but doesn't pay much. However, I also struggle with multiple physical disabilities caused by a viral infection that my body never quite recovered from (think like Long COVID but from before C19 existed). I did definitely let myself go since getting sick, and I'm actively working on my health and trying to get to a point where I can at least do daily tasks without so much trouble, but I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to get into a typical job due to these problems. My most recent job was as a device repair technician which I worked for about 2 years (2022-24) and towards the end my condition had actually begun to degrade so much that I could barely walk after every day of work. I'm terrified of that happening again, of things getting worse instead of getting better like they're supposed to. I'd rather avoid getting on disability payments if possible, because I do highly value work and I *want* to be able to work.

Currently living with my family and reliant on my 70 y/o grandma for shelter and finances (I did get us on food stamps to help with costs though). I'm scared of what will happen when she eventually passes, and even if she lives to be 100 years old somehow (which is possible; my grandma's mom lived to be 93 and *her* mom lived to be 101 lol) I don't want to be reliant on her or anybody else for my whole life. I value independence and I'm extremely frustrated and upset with myself for not achieving it so far. The closest I got was living with a partner for 5 years from 2020 to 2025, and even then I still felt like I was reliant on that partner for the period of that time that I wasn't working.

Hopefully that's enough context, please let me know if any other info is needed. At this point I'm just desperately needing help with figuring out what to do or where to go from here. I don't know if I can go back to school but sometimes I wish I could. I don't know if I can get a traditional job but I very much also wish I could. Anything else is greatly appreciated, thanks so much in advance!
