Being more health conscious finally made sense now

Not until last year my fasting A1C (blood sugar) level was at 5.9 and I was hitting 100kg. It did a toll on my body as my knees and back just sorta gave out during badminton sessions. I was prone to get tired easily and basically just sorta having other invisible health issues lurking around.

Not until 3 months ago when I decided enough was enough. Bought a new electric toothbrush and water flosser and implemented a better dental care routine. Then came the more conscious effort at regulating sleep and eating healthier food while cutting down significantly on sugar.

So now my A1C came down to 5.3 and I lost around 5kg of weight. Also it translated to better games and more stamina to spare. For the first time in like 6 or 7 years, I am motivated to keep these habits and routines around to cut down my weight further to sub 90kg. Ngl, I think it'll be harder than I expected. But I'm determined to make it happen.

Just thought I shared this with the casual folks here. If I can't control what is happening out there, at least I can control how I eat, sleep and train to be a better version of myself. It's tough but I think I might be ready to take on this challenge 😤😄

A flower bouquet every couple of weeks keeps the marriage woes away 😊

I liked flower bouquets and I liked to pick some pretty flowers for my partner from the local floral shop. It's just something nice to show my appreciation for my lovely partner who's been with me for a good one third of my life (11 years).

Also it makes tough times easier and easy times less forgettable. Marriage is hard, finding that person that can understand you and love you in a marriage is even harder. So I think the little gestures, no matter how trivial, can make a whole world of differences.

Just something to brighten the mood up among all the shit that is going on around us right now.

Off badminton for almost a week due to injury. Came back today and felt really strong.

The ever cycle of "I'm tired boss" vs "We're so back" continues.

I was taking some break from badminton for almost a full week due to back muscular pain. Nothing ice pack and cold spray can't fix but it was quite scary. Got strict order from the doctor and missus to stay off until fully healed.

Came back this morning and my form was almost improving significantly. Steps were light, smashed were sticky and drops were clear. Proof that excessive play without core strength training and proper tests can sometimes hinder progress and performance.

Next target: core training to reduce the risk of injury and increase stamina for long rallies.

Picture: Garmin's low aerobic and anerobic loads - today loads were good and helped maintaining pace.

I ticked a lot of boxes this week and I feel great :)

As per title. I just completed our first home loan refinance and somewhat got our finances in order, withdrew some reward points from a previous closed credit card, fixed a few direct debit details with the current home loan and most importantly, recovered from a nasty back muscle pain on Sunday to prepare for my badminton session this Saturday.

TL;DR: I feel pretty productive so far as I've done some paperwork relating to my home loan and happy to be back to badminton this weekend.

What have you guys completed or organized so far this week that made you feel like you had just made your life a tinier/substantially better? Please share here so others can get motivated by your efforts? 😁👍

I'm not a runner or hiker so apparently I lack high and low aerobic to break through my maintaining training status. I'm 34M on the heavier side.

Currently I'm playing badminton socially for 3 sessions per week with 6hrs in total. Average calory burn is around 800-1000 per session with mostly anerobic load counted (short burst of sprint to the net and movements on courts).

Any suggestions for some high/low aerobic activities that I can do to improve my optimal load on those 2 metrics? My goals are to have some strength training to supplement my badminton playing.

TIA 🙏
