[1.21.1] Persistent Nation-Building, Industry, Geopolitics- Create, Aeronautics, No Wipes

We’re looking for more players to join a persistent modded nation-building server focused on industry, engineering, geopolitics, warfare, and massive infrastructure.

The world is already active but still in the early industrial era, making this a good time to establish a new nation, join an existing one, or build an independent corporation.

Players are currently developing:

Cities, factories, railways, ports, trade routes, colonies, alliances, airships, aircraft, artillery, defensive infrastructure, power grids, refineries, logistics networks, and megaprojects

The modpack includes Create, TFMG, Create Big Cannons, Aeronautics, Immersive Engineering, Mekanism, Nuclear Science, Ballistix, and many supporting mods.

Progression is structured so nations must first build functioning industries, infrastructure, and economies before gaining access to advanced weapons and late-game technology. This is not a server where everyone immediately rushes endgame gear and loses interest after a week.

The map contains enormous continents, deep oceans, mountain ranges, remote islands, and long distances that make railways, shipping, aviation, trade, and territorial control genuinely important.

You can become an industrialist, engineer, architect, diplomat, military commander, trader, explorer, or national leader. Build something that affects the world and becomes part of its permanent history.

The world will never be wiped!

We are building a smaller, reliable community rather than a chaotic public server. Players are briefly screened before being whitelisted but nothing crazy.

Message me or post a comment here for the Discord information.

My nation (Ardennes) in particular is looking for builders and other roles to populate our nation more but there are other nations to join to fit your beliefs and play style.

I saw a military-style helicopter outside my school window

This is my first time sharing a personal experience on reddit like this, and it honestly isn't really much of a story at all compared against the rest of the happenings in any similar subreddit- however as someone who appreciates reading through everyone else's bizarre and paranormal experiences I figured I would go ahead and share anyways in case it was of any interest.

The experience occurred when I was in about third or fourth grade elementary school (US). I want to say it was fourth grade based on the classroom I believe I was in at the time, but of course this is now almost 20 years ago so the memory isn't totally clear.

So lets say when I was about 9-10 years old, it was about midday and it was any normal day at school. What I remember happening is watching the lesson and looking to my left out the big windows in the classroom and all of a sudden what I perceive to be a military helicopter has hovered down out next to the window, and it was so vivid I remember I could see the pilot in the helicopter look out into the window towards us. That is the entire memory. I do not remember anything specific that happened during or after that moment, but it was all very brief- one of those moments that is so quick in real time but is so strange or out of place that it feels like forever in your head. I specifically remember it being a "military" or similar style craft because it had a cockpit sort of like an apache attack helicopter where rather than side by side the pilot(s) are stationed on top of each other so to speak. Now I was younger at the time so my exposure to those sorts of things would have to have been fairly minimal since my parents were not super strict but I definitely wasn't playing or watching anything super violent or adult at the time, mostly stuff like star wars etc. But in my memory it was definitely something resembling an apache attack helicopter or similar style craft.

This was on the second level of the school and it looked out to the back area where there was a blacktop, a large playground, a field, and another smaller playground. It is entirely plausible that something like that could have fit there, it was a wide open space but at the time I was young, so it did not completely register with me just how crazy and bizarre such an occurrence would have been, but looking back now there is no way something like that would be legal or go unnoticed.

I remember being at home with my parents in the following day(s) and I specifically remember this because it was one of the first times I got in trouble for swearing, because I was explaining to my father the experience and got so excited and I remember saying "the pilot was so damn close I could see his helmet/visor/face" or something along those lines and he got upset with me for saying "damn" because I was young.

My only explanation is that I fell asleep and dreamed the experience. However, I was never tired or lacking sleep- falling asleep in class is something that never happened to me ever, so while possible it would have been very uncharacteristic of me to do. Also the teacher or fellow classmates would see me sleeping instantly and scold me or wake me, so the falling asleep theory does not hold so much weight to me but is the only logical explanation at the end of the day. Another possibility is that one night in my sleep I dreamed the entire "being at school experience and having this happen to me" plot and completely got it confused with real life. But again, while I have always been a vivid dreamer, nothing like that had ever happened to me before and would also have been very uncharacteristic of me to do so.

Reading other storied here about "screen memory" sort of made me remember this experience again because I partly wonder if I actually witnessed something extraterrestrial, experimental, or the like and the closest memory I had that could fill in the blank so to speak was a military-esque helicopter. That would partly explain why no one else reacted, or at the time I possibly briefly forgot the experience until digging the memory back up at a later time. This is definitely a super vivid memory that I still remember in my head, like I said earlier when explaining to my father how close it was to the window and how detailed the visual was of the pilot turning in and looking at us, I still can see to this day I have not forgotten.

Any thoughts? It is very likely nothing at all, but maybe there actually was something there that day.

1.21.1 | Tech Diplomacy Nation Building Server

This is a persistent 1.21.1 modded nation-building server centered on geopolitics, industry, engineering, warfare, and massive-scale infrastructure. The world will never be wiped.

The server is already underway, with several starting nations established and the world currently entering the early industrial era. Players are beginning to develop cities, factories, railways, ports, trade networks, militaries, and regional infrastructure across a massive world of deep oceans, towering mountain ranges, vast continents, remote islands, and meaningful long-distance logistics.

Featured mods include Create, TFMG, Create Big Cannons, Aeronautics, Immersive Engineering, Mekanism, Nuclear Science, Ballistix, and more. These support everything from trains, cargo shipping, and industrial production to warships, aircraft, artillery, energy grids, refineries, and large-scale engineering projects.

Technology progression is structured so that infrastructure, industry, and economic development come before advanced military and late-game technology. Nations grow through cooperation, trade, diplomacy, engineering, and strategic power rather than rushing straight to endgame equipment.

You can join an existing nation or establish your own. Build cities, control trade routes, form corporations, create colonies, negotiate borders, develop militaries, and leave a permanent mark on a world intended to build years of history.

We are aiming for a small to medium-sized community. Players are screened before being whitelisted to maintain a reliable and high-quality group.

The world is open and active, but still early enough for new players and nations to establish themselves.

Be very cautious ordering dishwashers from Costco

We’ve used the Costco Appliance Center twice since moving into our new home, and both experiences were bad.

The first was for a new dryer. It was delivered and installed with seemingly no issues, but the installers did not connect the dryer vent properly. It was leaking and causing all sorts of problems. We bought new supplies, connected it properly, and all of the issues went away.

Now for the true horror story: Costco dishwasher installation. Never again.

It has been weeks without a functioning dishwasher because Costco books ghost appointments. We were told the installers would follow up shortly after delivery and install the new unit that same day. Instead, nearly half a week later, I finally received a call from the contractor asking to schedule an appointment. Costco had already scheduled appointments for me, but the contractor had no record of them. In the meantime we were trying to call them and reach out and never got in contact with them, same story when we talked to Costco support on the phone- they were never even able to get into contact with them and they could not schedule us with another contractor, they said we had to use this one even though they admitted they were having issues with them.

It has now been well over two weeks, and the dishwasher still has not been installed. They were supposed to come this morning, but rescheduled for another week because they could not get the correct hose. This would be understandable if it was a day or two after delivery, not over two weeks later!

Some people may say this is not Costco’s fault and that the contractor is responsible. However, Costco chose them directly and works with this contractor as part of its installation service, so this reflects directly on Costco. If Costco prioritized reliable, high-quality contractors who showed up as scheduled and completed installations within a reasonable time-frame, this would not happen.

I had read some of the horror stories online about the Costco Appliance Center but decided to give it a chance anyway.

Big mistake.

If anyone else is on the fence about ordering a dishwasher from Costco do yourself a favor and go to a reputable local dealer instead, even if it costs a bit more money- its likely worth it for service that will be miles better than what you receive through Costco. Which really, is a total shame because their in-warehouse division is so awesome. But man, did they drop the ball here. Never again.

Pioneer BDR-206DBK repeatedly fails BD-R DL verification at exact layer break

I’m trying to burn full Blu-ray ISOs to Verbatim 50 GB BD-R DL discs, but every disc has problems immediately after the layer transition.

Hardware:

  • Pioneer BDR-206DBK
  • Firmware shown as 1.56
  • Manufactured March 2024
  • Verbatim 8x BD-R DL
  • Media ID: VERBAT-IMf-000
  • Vantec NexStar DX2 optical-drive USB 3.0 enclosure
  • Previously tested with a generic powered SATA-to-USB adapter

What happens:

  • ImgBurn completes the burn normally
  • Verification fails at the beginning of layer 2
  • Typical error I receive:

L-EC Uncorrectable Error Layer 1 starts at LBA: 12219392 Failure begins around LBA: 12219424

Earlier burns also produced miscompares around LBA 12219456

I have tested:

  • Multiple brand-new Verbatim BD-R DL discs
  • Multiple different Blu-ray ISOs
  • 2x and 4x writing
  • ImgBurn and PowerISO
  • Two different USB-to-SATA solutions

The same layer-transition problem keeps happening.

The drive successfully used MakeMKV to back up an entire commercial dual-layer 3D Blu-ray with no read errors, so dual-layer reading works. Some of the ImgBurn discs also appear to play through the full movie despite failing verification, but the latest disc produces actual uncorrectable read errors on layer 2.

Does this look like:

  • A defective BDR-206 specifically when writing BD-R DL?
  • A firmware/write-strategy incompatibility with VERBAT-IMf-000?
  • A bad batch of Verbatim discs?
  • Some known ImgBurn/Pioneer layer-break behavior?

When testing these discs in the pioneer as well as my blu ray player, I do not notice any issues with the discs when playing them back... despite getting these errors. I have not watched an entire blu ray film fully through to test for skipping, etc, but I have just skimmed around chapters and it seemed to play fine. Although the errors I am receiving seem like there may be something wrong here. I have tested three discs so far an the pattern has been consistent.

Maybe it is writing perfectly find but something with verification just isnt working properly on the layer transition ?

I have 25 GB BD-R discs to test single-layer writing, but I do not want to waste more BD-R DL discs. Should I just return/exchange the drive?

Thank you for any assistance or insight!

1.21.1 | Tech Diplomacy Nation Building Server

This is a fresh 1.21.1 modded nation-building server focused on geopolitics, industry, engineering, warfare, and massive-scale infrastructure. The world will never be wiped.

The general idea is to build nations, empires, corporations, colonies, rail networks, ports, factories, and militaries across a gigantic world featuring ultra-deep oceans, towering mountain ranges, vast continents, remote islands, and long-distance logistics that actually matter.

Featured mods include Create, TFMG, Create Big Cannons, Aeronautics, Immersive Engineering, Mekanism, Nuclear Science, Ballistix, and more, supporting everything from trains and cargo shipping to warships, aircraft, artillery, energy grids, refineries, and industrial megaprojects.

Technology progression is intentionally structured to prioritize early industrialization and infrastructure before advanced military and late-game technology emerge. Nations rise through cooperation, economics, engineering, diplomacy, and strategic power.

Join an existing nation or forge your own. Shape borders, control trade routes, establish colonies, build cities that last for years, and leave permanent marks on a persistent world designed for long-term history.

We are looking to make this a small to medium size server where players will be screened before whitelisting to ensure a quality group of players.

We are in the beginning stages of getting the world set, just finishing chunk generating out most of the world, so it will be opening up for players pretty soon.

If you are interested in the discord or an invite please let me know.
