Hello fellow Pyrates collectors! July makes 20 years since the release of Dead Man's chest, and so I'd like to commence the celebration early by showcasing my improved Flying Dutchman and Black Pearl Mega Bloks sets.

These are my original childhood sets which have now survived 20 years of storage in plastic storage totes. Over the years, bits and pieces went missing such as the anchors, many mini figures, sails, sail clips etc.

Recently I was able to source some incomplete ebay lots and restored my ships to 100%+ condition and improved their look to more accurately look like the ships from the movie!

From the factory, these ships come with 1 jib and 2 sails per main mast (1 sail at the rear mizzenmast for the pearl). The pearl is the most inaccurate one.

Here's the original images:

The real ships

In the potc movies, these ships actually have 2 jibs and 3 sails per main mast, 2 sails at the rear Mizzenmast.

I also added the kraken's calling wheel to the back of the ship before the captains room, using a spare wheel.

My 1017 Black Pearl

2 jibs, 3 sails per main mast, 2 sails at the mizzenmast + more cannons (need some more tbh)

I felt that the huge gate on the deck floor was a bit goofy, so I swapped that out for a custom built floor extension with some spare grey bricks I had laying around. Eventually will color match them better. Also used a spare staircase to lead into the below deck interior.

Cheers and happy 20 years of Dead Man's Chest 😎🥳
