What if we turn the South Korean spaceport in Cagayan into a Mecca for Filipino STEM students?

Let our students watch live rocket launches during school outings.

What if we use nuclear and fossil fuels as backup power only? And instead use renewables as our primary energy source so that we can save on uranium and fossil fuel imports?

When there are no sun or wind or have a low battery charge, then that's the only time we'll use nuclear and fossil fuels as backup power so that we can save on uranium and fossil fuel imports.

Heatwaves, wildfires, tornadoes, coral bleaching, acidification of the oceans are hurting parts of the world.

Nuclear and fossil fuel pollution are controversial in the Philippines. So if we're not going nuclear and fossil fuels anymore, then let's go with renewable energy. For example, among these renewables are floating offshore wind farms that will be installed throughout the vast western pacific. We can sell our excess electricity supply to the ASEAN power grid.

People with a STEM or business background can contribute to society by starting a business creating more jobs within the Philippines.

Renewables have disadvantages too. But we have no choice. We need to find a way to balance it because we need electricity to power our refrigerators, smartphones, etc. It's a life or death situation.

We can watch other countries that are the first ones to encounter problems with renewables and the first ones to develop solutions. Then after that we can adopt them.

What if the Philippines became a US state? Would the population of Filipinos today will only be 30 million?

Perhaps US companies would've supplied the Philippines with coal and build several nuclear power plants for example. Making most Filipinos middle class.

All Filipino women will have an opportunity to be educated and become professionals. They will choose to have a smaller family starting in 1960. As a result, the population of Filipinos today might only be 30 million.

The disadvantage is that the 30 million Filipinos will become a minority in their own land. Many Americans from the US mainland and immigrants from around the world will want to reside in the coconut tropics. I have the impression that only the very rich Americans are allowed to permanently reside in a tropical paradise.

What if we adopt Switzerland's direct democracy by voting regularly online?

What if in the future somebody invents an online voting system that is 100% secure, cheatproof, vetting capable, etc. so that we can vote regularly through our smartphones, computers, the internet, etc? Such technology will allow big countries to practically adopt Switzerland's direct democracy. Some say this is no longer science fiction. The technology exist now.

What if the most important part of the parliamentary system is the parliament's question time?

In our modern times, hot heads and violent persons are not qualified to be a prime minister or cabinet minister. Because that kind of person might just lose his/her temper once he/she is being grilled almost everyday during parliament's question time. He/she might just curse, kick, and punch violently the shadow prime minister who is grilling him/her during question time. It will be news around the world.

In a parliamentary system, the minority coalition's shadow prime minister and shadow cabinet will provide constructive opposition and alternative solutions, and grill the prime minister and cabinet ministers almost daily during parliament's question time.

In presidential systems, the problem is, even hot headed and violent persons can become president. You can't grill a president almost everyday like a prime minister during question time. And sometimes crime lords fund the election campaigns of presidents. The president sometimes owe crime lords as a result.

In contrast, the prime minister and cabinet ministers can be exposed with their wrongdoings immediately during parliament's question time. The parliamentary system is a constant headache for the corrupt in parliament.

What if Bangsamoro serves as an example for the Philippines in shifting to a parliamentary federal system?

Bangsamoro, as a whole at least, is no longer the poorest region. Hence there's an improvement. So if the poorest region can show improvements, how much more with the rest of the richer regions if they are federal states? How about Cebu, Davao, NCR, etc?

The first coalition government will most likely be unified in addressing the basic needs of their people because basic needs are universal and urgent in our present situation.

What if we have a balanced government or a Goldilocks government?

In presidential systems, the president protects the interests of billionaires and sometimes crime lords because they owe their campaign funding to them.

In parliamentary systems, they become extreme welfare states because that's what the voters want through their district representative MPs. In the UK, the House of Lords is afraid of the House of Commons practically making them function as a unicameral legislature dominated by district representative MPs.

Those are two opposite extremes. That's why it has to be a balanced system or a Goldilocks system.

The best system is a parliamentary system with an upper house having proportional representation and/or a non-elected but instead appointed members with expert backgrounds, and a lower house having district representative MPs.

Thus the upper house can secretly protect the interests of big business and block impractical laws from passing while the lower house can protect the interests of their district constituents. Hence, it's a balanced or Goldilocks system.

In the Philippines, the BARMM parliament is a unicameral legislature composed of 50% proportional representation, 40% district representatives, and 10% party lists. Therefore, it's a balanced or Goldilocks system as well.
