It is a jewelry box, made in walnut wood. It has been made through historic techniques, mainly by a hammer and a chisel.
The whole statue is carved from a single piece of walnut wood, i have put the statue in front of a similar piece of wood it was carved from in the last slide for reference.

I belong to a walnut hand carved furniture making family in Kashmir. We have been making this for a very long time. The craft was brought to Kashmir by a sufi Iranian Saint namely Mir Sayed Ali Hamdani. If you can, please do follow us on Instagram, helps a lot https://www.instagram.com/oriental.emporio?igsh=MWx1bTg3dml1NHpnMQ==
We also deal in shawls, carpets, paper machine and tapestry.
These both are made from Walnut wood. The first one has a full jungle Theme and the last one is somewhat of birds in motion. These boxes open by a trick shown in the 8 and 14 slide in which i move the panel which opens them.
I belong to a wood carving, we have been doing this for generations. The wood used is walnut. The above one is based on a Jungle Theme. The box is fully hand carved. In the last slide you can see how to slide the box to open it by moving the panel.
It has no visible lock whatsoever, but opens by a well concealed sliding of a panel as shown on the last photographs.

Hand Made from basic tools like chisel and hammer mostly. Wax Polished. It took around 2 months from start to finish but i think the result was worth it. It is a Jewellery box but i think it can be used for watches or some kind of important collection also.
