You think the new AQ is long, imagine how much longer it is when you keep having to pause to take photos of this gorgeous chainsmoker

A friendly reminder to stick to the combos that work for you (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

Yesterday, I learned from this subreddit that Varka has a new extended rotation that makes full use of TTDS, and I spent the better part of the past 24 hours learning how do it. This is a massive time investment for someone like me who works 6 days a week and opts to use my only free day to sleeeeeeeeeep lmao

That being said, despite my best efforts, I could not even get close to the DPS number that I was getting with his old 17-18s rotation (peaked at 325k). Before you say it's a skill issue, yes I'm aware, and that's not the point of this post. I know your first instinct is to demand a screen recording so you could tell me exactly what I'm doing wrong, and I respect that, but it really doesn't matter because (a) I've decided to go back to the work that piled up while I was doing my initial testing, so I won't have the time, and (b) it's likely not gonna stick anyway 😅

I'm glad that Varka has a little bit more room for skill expression now that he's free from Bennett's clutches, but not everyone is going to take advantage of that (even if they really wanted to) and that's okay. If you're able to utilize the extended rotation consistently, that's great. If you're getting better results with a different combo/rotation length, that's great too.

The point of this post is simply this: stick to what works for you. It's fine to enjoy Varka whichever way you want. It's okay to try new things, and it's okay to go back to your same old, same old if the new venture doesn't pan out. There's only a limited number of things that you can be good at in life, and if playing video games skillfully is one of the things you choose to invest those life skill points into, then good for you. If not, then good for you too lol.

Stygian Onslaught usually throws curveballs at you anyway, from wonky energy mechanics to phase shifts that screw with your rotation. Your combos and rotation length will vary one way or another, and for me, the important thing is being able to pivot back to a trusty rotation that I'm able to execute consistently.

Don't bother throwing the dismissive "git gud" or "it's not even that hard" lines, or conversely, "it's a waste of time to learn that" or "is this really what you want to do with your life" lines, those statements only move to dilute this conversation to a mere pissing contest. Let the sweaty ones be sweaty, and the casual ones be casual, both approaches are valid. Have a good day, Varka fam!

Highest DPS team in my account right now

  • c3r2 varka
  • c2r1 durin on noblesse + atk goblet (on dps set, team dps is noticeably lower)
  • c6 oathsworn prune vv
  • c0r0 skyward nicole on new set (ttds tests lower even on odd-numbered rotations)
