I think it's interesting they've decided to change how unit cards are displayed in battle and pivot away from the single row at the bottom of the screen we have now.
On one hand, this will hopefully address the issue of unit card readability when playing with 20+ units. As it is right now in wh3, any battle with large reinforcements crushes each unit card into a tiny sliver to accommodate all of them into a single row. This makes the ui in huge battles feel cramped and hard to read at a glance. Seeing how important reinforcements seemingly are in the new game, this should hopefully make them less of a hassle to deal with in battle.
However, I think this could also run the risk of ui bloat. A large block of unit cards taking up a big portion of the screen might obscure too much of the actual battle, especially when combined with all the new panels for army abilities etc. Ultimately, the best part of any total war is watching the battles themselves, so hopefully they mange to strike some sort of balance between ui readability and minimalism.
