places to eat alone in?

okay, this is gonna sound totes weird, but sometimes I just like eating by myself because I want to vibe alone and enjoy my own company. are there any places where I can sit and enjoy my own company? I go to the Monroe Campus.

p.s: plz don’t read too into this! I love the company of other ppl, but there are some days introverted me would just prefer to recharge by myself while having me-time fun. that’s all there is to it.

any tablet similar to the HUION H1060P?

My current drawing tablet is a HUION H1060P model that is 10 x 6.25 in (I included a link to it here: Huion Inspiroy H1060P Pen Tablet with Hard and Soft Keys), but I would like to upgrade to a similar tablet because my current one has some iffy connection issues with my PC. (I have to weigh down the USB-A cable with a heavy object in order for it to connect for some reason...) I would prefer a screenless tablet because that is what I'm used to, within the HUION brand, and has better specs than my model! I'm looking for a budget between $30-$80, maybe even $120 if I am able to spend that much. I'm open to brands outside of HUION as well, as long as it has a similar layout!

My Dad Doesn't Shower, it drives me crazy

I am 17F and my AF never showers. It drives me and my mom insane because it is 97 degrees fahrenheit outside and he oozes the most nauseous body odor that traumatizes me every time i walk past him. We yell at him to shower, and he does consecutively for a week...until he decides on his own one day that he should stop, which me and my mom can both tell because the horrific stench of his existence returns, and we return back to yelling at him and he stubbornly doesn't listen to us again. I don't even know who else to vent to about this and I seriously wish he can shower every day. I'm sick of spraying body spray at him to shoo him away when my dad's foul aroma arises, why can't my dad be a normal dad...it's the bare minimum to shower!

P.S: He has not been diagnosed with any mental illnesses, but my mom told me there is a possibility he may have dementia, or something that makes him lose motivation in showering. He's also a hoarder too, and he has no friends and never goes outside.

Is University Student Counseling Confidential?

I know it says it is on their website, but I’m afraid that I will get outed about my mental health concerns and that information will be disclosed to my professors and future employers at VCU. I was going to schedule a RAM for myself, but I’m scared that they will put that information on my record as a student.

is the Asian and Chinese studies minor doomed

so like...i went through lots of loopholes emailing about the availability of this minor because I'm rlly interested in it and i want to work in China someday! but i saw that the status of the minor is "suspended", and every time I emailed about it, there's always a msg that says my email was not delivered. I'll try and keep looking for other departments that can answer my question, but are there any other oppurtunities where I am able to study abroad or inquire about it?

P.S: this is my first year at VCU, so I am aware I still have a long time to go before I declare a minor!! just looking at stuff I can get into before I declare it!

Need some insight on the Part-Time jobs I'm interested in (mainly Library + B&N)

hi ramily! I am an incoming student in Fall 2026, and I'm looking for part-time jobs and preferably on campus because I heard that they are more accommodating regarding scheduling. I'm looking to work at B&N or be a student library aid, because I would like to get more experience with working in the library, since I would like to be a librarian in the future. What I would like to know, is if anyone has been able to work in both fields and how the experience was working there. (I understand that some stuff is confidential, so if it cannot be mentioned, that's okay!) Also, are both jobs listed on Handshake, or do they both have their own respective websites to apply?

Is it supposed to be my responsibility to plan my mom and i's trip? i'm 17F and currently studying for my exams before i graduate high school, and i am focused on that and my job as well. i don't have any time for myself or to plan for my summer trip, but my mom is mad that i can't help her. She got frustrated that I couldn't help because I chose to have downtime to myself, and told me that "I should stop playing video games" and help her, but this week has been so busy. I have 2 AP exams this week, and the weekend before I had prom and my senior banquet. After this, I still have to take my senior exams and then graduation. I haven't even had time to play games or pursue any of my hobbies, and I wish I could tell her that, but I know if I did, she'd think I'd make it all about me. (I am aware that my mom is a bit narcisstic.)

The only time I could help is this weekend, but even then, I think we'd fight over planning our trip together because it happened last time. I think I'd like to make this our last vacation together because I don't want to have to keep fighting over planning something fun.

P.S: Unrelated, but I had my senior award's ceremony today, and I got 3 awards! My mom wasn't able to attend, but now I'm glad she didn't witness it because I remember how much she hurts me when she confronts me like this, and I was happy when my friends and teacher congratulated on my achievements.
