Two of the same Wemby 1/1 RC?
I own the 2023 Hoops Premium Stock Victor Wembanyama Gold Vinyl Prizm 1/1 in a PSA 10 slab (purchased on Goldin), and a raw version of that same card has just been posted to eBay.
It's a 1/1, so there should only be 1 of this card. Nothing about this raw card on eBay screams "fake" to me. It is definitely a different card from the one that I own. The gold vinyl print pattern is aligned differently and the "1 of 1" placement on the back is slightly different. I've messaged the seller, and they claim to have bought the card from a reputable source. There are a few possibilities for what might be going on:
- The raw card is a counterfeit and eBay should take down the listing
- The raw card is authentic and Panini printed 2 copies of a 1/1 card
- The slabbed card is a counterfeit and PSA authenticated and graded a counterfeit card
Any suggestions on how best to get to the bottom of this? Presumably whoever wins that auction will try to get it authenticated and possibly graded.
