Did I get scammed with this Glowlight 3? Any possible fix?

I got a Glowlight 3 the other day and I'm really hoping this wasn't a too good to be true purchase.

I got it for $20 and it seemed to be working fine, the seller didn't report any issues. Now that I have it, it won't connect to internet. I tried my regular wifi and my mobile hotspot. I rebooted the router even though everything else was connected to wifi fine.

So then I tried to sideload the software update for the nook as, after some googling, I found that may be the issue. But I've tried 3 different chords in my laptop and none are allowing the nook to connect. I don't see the nook in my files to install the update. When I tried plugging my phone into my computer, that showed up fast and normally in my files and I was able to sync photos instantly.

From what I've found googling so far, I need to sideload the update to connect to wifi. But then the nook may not show up in my computer, and if that happens I need to update the nook. But I can't update the nook without being able to plug it into my computer.

Can anyone tell me what to do next? Am I doing something wrong? I really don't want to believe that this was a loss because I was so happy to finally get an ereader.

Jelly Star NFC trouble

I tried to use tap to pay at a place I go daily (and used Apple pay at every day before getting the Jelly), it finally worked after 40 failures..... But after it finally paid, my whole phone shorted out. The screen just kept fading to black every time I turned it on. I had to completely factory reset it to get the screen to work again. Which was super annoying. And I've been afraid to try it again because I don't want to have to reset my phone again.

I've been using the Jelly Star for a few weeks now. I really like it, and I don't mind the older version of Android at all. And other than NFC being weird, I've had no issues with it. No NFC wouldn't be the end of the world, but I have become super reliant on it and would love to have it on the Jelly.

Has anyone experienced this? Know any work around? 🤞
