i stalked a leetcode profile with 89 solves 👀

49 medium solves and Enumeration is his lowest-covered topic.

also, ~1 submission a week 😭

i plugged his profile into GrindLens to see what it'd find and these little details are actually interesting.. you can see gaps in your history that you'd never notice just by looking at your solve count 💀

try it on yours: https://www.grindlens.dev

i looked through a leetcode history and found this 😭

81 solves. ~52 submissions a week.

hashmap / complement lookup showed up in 3 of the last 20 accepted problems.

and GrindLens picked up on it 👀

meanwhile i'm doing 9 submissions a week and calling it a grind 💀

300+ leetcode problems and i'm starting to question what “solved” really means

i've been thinking about how weird the leetcode feedback loop is.

you get:

wrong → testcase → fix → submit → AC

and the final result just says:

solved.

but that's obviously not the same as seeing a problem, recognizing the pattern, thinking through the edge cases and getting it right without help from the judge.

i don't think failed submissions are necessarily bad either, it's just a totally different metric.

just wondering how other people think about this when they're measuring their interview prep.

do you track your first-try solves or just count total ACs?

i think i wasted a lot of time solving leetcode

for a long time i thought the way to get better at dsa was pretty simple

solve more problems.

so i did..

100 became 200
then 300
then 400+

but at some point someone asked me:

"what are ur weakest dsa patterns?"

i genuinely didn't know.

i knew my solve count.
i knew my rating.
i could tell you which sheets i'd done.

but if you gave me a blank page and asked me to write down the 3 patterns i was actually bad at, i'd probably just sit there lol.

then i started paying attention to something else.

sometimes i'd solve 5 problems from the same pattern and still get stuck on basically the same idea.

meanwhile i'd look at my profile and think "damn.. 450+ solved. i'm doing pretty good."

but then i'd get stuck on some random medium i've basically seen before 😭

how do you guys actually know when you've learned a pattern?

is it after 5 problems?
10?
when you can recognize it without hints?

because i'm starting to think solve count doesn't really tell you that much.

that's actually what made me build GrindLens.

i wanted to know what i'd actually learned, where i was still weak, and what i should solve next.

so it looks at your leetcode history and tries to surface those gaps instead of just giving you another number.

it's live now if anyone wants to try it:

kinda curious what yours looks like lol

tweaked GrindLens's landing page headline, wanted to get a read from here specifically since you're all pretty blunt: too much or does it land? grindlens.dev

try this before you read further: name your 3 weakest dsa topics rn. no sheet, no stats page, just from memory.

most can't. i couldn't either, and i'd solved 400+ problems atp.

was actually in a discord when someone asked me that straight up. went completely blank. had a number stuck in my head, not an answer. still bugs me thinking abt it, all those hours and i genuinely couldn't tell u where i stood.

ended up spending months on this after that, mostly random nights, no big plan, just annoyed enough to actually fix it. tracks progress across sheets like neetcode 150, blind 75, striver a2z so u're not just picking random problems, shows what u've actually covered vs where the gaps are, and tells u what to solve next.

works whether ur just starting out and want structure, or ur deep in like i was and still can't answer the "what am i weak at" question. 120 ppl have picked it up since i started sharing it.

grindlens.dev, happy to fix anything or add stuff people actually need

solved 400+ leetcode problems, still couldn't answer what i'm weak at

400+ solved. rating touched 1720. someone asks me what topics i'm actually weak at.

i freeze.

had a number in my head. not an answer. that's when it actually hit me, all that grinding and i still couldn't tell u where i stood.

spent the next few months building grindlens to fix that exact gap. pulls live leetcode data, shows what's actually covered vs where the real weak spots are, tracks progress across sheets like neetcode 150, blind 75, striver a2z, and tells u what to solve next instead of a count going up.

not trying to be another aggregator that just shows numbers across platforms. this one's built around one specific thing, actually knowing your gaps, not guessing them.

120 signups so far, mostly ppl in the exact spot i was in. completely free right now.

built for anyone in the dsa grind

440 leetcode problems solved, still had no clue what to solve next.

leetcode gives you count, streak, rating. none of that tells you wt actually matters, like which patterns you've covered, what you're weak at, what you haven't touched at all, or whether you're actually improving vs just racking up numbers.

started using dsa sheets for structure since randomly picking off the homepage wasn't working. then hit a second wall, i was doing neetcode, blind 75, and striver at the same time, no single place showed what i'd actually covered across all three.

so i built grindlens. pulls leetcode progress + sheet progress into one place and shows the actual gaps instead of just a number going up. supports neetcode 150, blind 75, striver a2z, leetcode top interview 150, few others.

the annoying part wasn't the ui, it was the data. a dsa sheet isn't a clean list of unique leetcode problems, mapping sheet problems to actual lc ones and handling overlap took way longer than i expected.

live at grindlens.dev if anyone wants to poke around. built it mostly around my own gaps, so curious what's missing for people who grind harder or differently than me
