Early 1920’s Quick Meal (Magic Chef) Range

I thought you all might like this. Recently my wife and I purchased this range and after having some oven panels fabricated to replace rusted panels and having it professionally vented and hooked up to gas/stress tested it is finally up and running.

It has six burners, two ovens, a broiler, toaster, warmer, and storage space. Cooking with it has been fun to learn as there is definitely a learning curve compared to modern appliances. I love it so much though!!

I still need to clean the old grease and tarnish off the nickel-plated gas lines, but otherwise it is in fantastic condition and everything works as it should at over 100 years old and will easily last another 100 years if we (and future owners) take care of it

Antique Range Update

I know a lot of you were wanting updates on our 1920’s Quick Meal range so here ya go!

We finally decided on a plumbing company (Arrow Plumbing) to get it hooked up to the gas and vented through the roof. I forgot to take a picture of the stovepipe on the roof, so I’ll add that once I get home and can take one.

I had to have a couple oven panels fabricated because the originals were too rusted to repair and Bray Sheet Metal knocked it out of the park! Jeremy has been easy to work with and I definitely recommend them to anyone needing any kind of metal fabrication done. I took them the old rusted panels and they build new ones exactly to match and these aren’t just flat panels, they have chambers and whatnot for insulation in the oven.

As of Friday the 14th we are officially up and running and I’m learning that cooking on an antique range like this has a bit of a learning curve, but so far I’m loving it!

While waiting on getting everything up and running I got the white ceramic, ovens, and burners all cleaned up and rust treated. After that I got a bit lazy so now I have to focus on cleaning the old grease and tarnish from the nickel plated gas lines, so I’ll have at least one more update for you all soon!

ISO Vintage Gas Stove Professional

I am looking for anyone local that can install safety valves/thermocouples on the ovens and electronic ignitions for the burners on my “new” vintage stove for extra safety.
