RIP to my 1950s Wedgewood?

Posting here because I feel like people here will understand my dilemma. I smelled a bit of gas around my 1950s Wedgewood. My portable gas detector lit up around the pilot valve on one burner and around the little chimney stack on the left. I had a repairman come and he says they can clean out all the gas lines and pieces and that should fix some of the problem, but since it’s very old he can’t guarantee that there isn’t another leak somewhere. It will cost $850 to do the thorough cleaning. I’m worried about spending $850 and still having a leak. He suggests I replace the stove completely. I’m also wondering if I can try simply cleaning the lines myself, but maybe that’s overly ambitious.

I love my stove so much — she came with the house and I’ve gotten to love her despite her crankiness — but I’m conflicted 😢

Photos of my baby without her lids on (I know she’s dirty, I was in the middle of retiling my kitchen when I discovered this, and the past owners may not have taken great care of her either)

EDIT: thank you everyone for your suggestions and your compliments on my sweet stove! I ordered some equipment to try to clean it myself, and if it doesn’t work I’ll call the more specialized places people recommended. I appreciate everyone’s help, this repair guy really got in my head about safety but now I’m feeling much more confident!

Southwest USA. Wedgewood stove

This is a marketplace find I’m considering for its rustic charm. I’ve been googling Wedgewood stoves for an hour and cannot find a match. Does anyone know the model or the year of this? Or any other fun information I can use as a talking piece?

It’s located in the next town over and I cannot take more pics, sorry.

Early 1920’s Quick Meal (Magic Chef) Range

I thought you all might like this. Recently my wife and I purchased this range and after having some oven panels fabricated to replace rusted panels and having it professionally vented and hooked up to gas/stress tested it is finally up and running.

It has six burners, two ovens, a broiler, toaster, warmer, and storage space. Cooking with it has been fun to learn as there is definitely a learning curve compared to modern appliances. I love it so much though!!

I still need to clean the old grease and tarnish off the nickel-plated gas lines, but otherwise it is in fantastic condition and everything works as it should at over 100 years old and will easily last another 100 years if we (and future owners) take care of it

KitchenAid (Hobart) dishwasher

I saw this nifty dishwasher today at the Moss Mansion museum and thought there was probably some place on reddit that would appreciate seeing ir. The placard says it was installed in the kitchen after 1947. It currently resides in the basement laundry room (the original sink was put back in the kitchen for historic restoration).

Chamber stove? Is this what I think it is?

Can someone help me identify this stove. Is it in fact a 1950s Chambers Model 90C? I've newly dove into these beautiful stoves and came across this locally for $75. It clearly needs parts and work but is this as good of a find as I suspect?

Looking for Information on this King Economy Comstock Castle Stove. Las Vegas, NV. USA.

Hello everyone,

This is my first post here. I work at an art museum dedicated to one artist in Las Vegas. The crew and I recently found this stove in the artist's home.

I'm looking for any information on it. We plan to restore it and preserve it. Not for sale. I can't find any results on it online. Does anyone here recognize it? Any info is helpful! Particularly manufacturing dates.

Thanks in advance!

SHES ALIVE!!!! Im so happy! Dream to have an old coffee maker!

I got this coffee maker at Goodwill yesterday and made a post about it. I’m finally getting a chance to run some cleaner through it. Sounds a little funky, but she’s definitely running properly. I could not be happier.

Help identify this oven

Just moved into a new house with this exact stove (not my photo) buried in a corner behind some boxes. It’s in really good shape. All I know is it’s Dickson brand and it’s gas & coal fired. Anyone know the model or if it’s worth anything? Want to make sure I’m not screwing myself before I call a scrap guy to come get it

Help identifying this sandwich maker please.

Hi. I purchased a vintage sandwich maker from an estate sale and I cannot find any info on it. It says DAK Industries on it and clearly says it's a "sandwich maker" on the bottom. When I search the model and DAK Industries it says they never made a sandwich maker. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Old vintage cookware

Looking for information, history or pricing to sell these decorations we’ve had since my grandmothers passing.
We always went with the cowboy/mountain motif.
Wife’s looking to change it up. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Could provide sizes if it helps. The dark “coffee” pot is heavy.

Magic Maid

I bought this cheap as a project and am now second guessing myself. The good parts are the mixer does turn on and spin the beaters, no sparks or burning smell and the speed controller is janky, but does change the speed. The cord needs to be replaced and the gears need to be greased, everything needs to be cleaned. The thing that really has me worried is the rust on the stand and bowl spinner. I can't figure out how the bowl spinner detaches from the stand there are loose ball bearings in the race underneath and surprisingly it spins, but it doesn't seem to just pull out like on a Mixmaster. I really need to get that apart to clean and paint Has anybody here done one of these before? . Any tips appreciated.

70’s (I think?) blender found at estate sale!

I found this Hamilton Beach blender at an estate sale today for $2.50! I cleaned it up when I got home and it works great. Blade still looks brand new. Pretty stoked! How old do you guys think it is? Google says most likely early to mid 70’s but I can’t find this exact model.

Valor 65-S

Hi everyone,

I was going through my grandma's garage today and stumbled across this vintage Valor 65-S paraffin/kerosene boiling stove.

To my surprise, it is literally brand new and completely unused. It still has the original factory paper band wrapped around the chimney, the British-made paper inspection tag attached, and the pastel green enamel is completely spotless.

I’m trying to learn a bit more about this specific example:

How rare is it to find a Valor 65-S in untouched, New Old Stock (NOS) condition like this?

Are there any specific details about this particular pastel green colorway or production year?

Is there any specific history behind this model that collectors look out for?

I’d love to hear from anyone who knows these classic British stoves well. Thanks in advance for any insights!

Juicer, Blender, Ice Crusher

The juicer and ice crusher belonged to my grandparents. The blender is the same as my mother had. Nostalgia on a shelf.

Picked up this bread mold from a flea market and really want to use it. Has anyone made bread in one of these and have a recipe and/or advice to share? 😊

LaSalle Gas Stove

I recently purchased this beautiful piece of history, trying to find out if anyone has any information on it? The manufacturing plate is worn out for the most part. I know they were manufactured by Detroit Vapor sometime in 1925-1933? Going to start restoration on this awesome stove, so was hoping someone somewhere might have some information on it.

Thanks!

Vintage Hagan Thermostat

House built in approx 1960 with all electric heat in ceilings.
Each room has its own thermostat - all either the singer (pic 2) or electromode (pic 3)
Except in the dining room is this single Hagan thermostat.
It is approximately 16 inches from the normal singer thermostat that follows suite with the rest of the house.
What could the Hagan thermostat be for? Or how can I find out?
