I bought this cheap as a project and am now second guessing myself. The good parts are the mixer does turn on and spin the beaters, no sparks or burning smell and the speed controller is janky, but does change the speed. The cord needs to be replaced and the gears need to be greased, everything needs to be cleaned. The thing that really has me worried is the rust on the stand and bowl spinner. I can't figure out how the bowl spinner detaches from the stand there are loose ball bearings in the race underneath and surprisingly it spins, but it doesn't seem to just pull out like on a Mixmaster. I really need to get that apart to clean and paint Has anybody here done one of these before? . Any tips appreciated.

Bought this yesterday. The fold out ashtrays really sell it for me Sure, it is a mass produced folding table that has seen pretty hard use, but it is still structurally sound and I needed one this size At some point I'll probably take it apart and sand out those scratches.

Moved my machine into its new much nicer cabinet this morning. I'm pretty happy about it.

This is the new to me 1200-1 from Friday. I am really liking this machine, it is really quiet and the stitches look great. All I have done so far is a quick wipe down and added oil in the designated spots It is in need of a more thorough cleaning which I can do myself, but although there aren't immediately obvious problems with the wiring I am a little worried just because of the age of the machine that it may need to be rewired before I really use it. Since I paid so little for the machine, I am not opposed to paying a shop to get it done. I am not sure how much the job would be, but I have a couple shops within a reasonable distance that I can call for an estimate. I think I could go as high as $150+200 to avoid putting this on my to-do list. Is this reasonable? On a side note, I did look at a diagram of how the knee lifter normally works and have hatched a devious plan to recruit my son to 3d print me an eccentric cam that I can attach to some square rod to activate the knee lift. If that works, I'll be back to show it off.
