Are AdTech jobs in NYC dead?

Been looking for a year…Operations/Activation, Partnerships Management, Product Management, Analytics. Same experience over and over - apply to jobs, get no response, and see the same jobs get reposted repeatedly. Spoke to several friends and people in my network and they’re experiencing the same thing. Seems like it’s impossible to land an AdTech job in NYC.

Really strange behavior from recruiters - what is happening?

I've had interviews with 4-5 companies in the past three months. The initial screening interviews with recruiters always seems to go great. I've gotten as far as three rounds of interviews in some cases and then I get ghosted for 1-2 weeks. I figured they're probably taking the time to interview a few others and shortlist candidates to move forward. Then I get a generic "we've decided to move forward with other candidates that more closely" blah blah blah. Then I see the job getting reposted a week later. On LinkedIn I can see that some of these jobs have 800 - 1200 applicants.

So here's my question: Are they actually even trying to fill these roles? Surely if they passed on me (even in cases where I 100% match the job description) then they must have found someone better from that pool of 800 - 1200 applicants, right!? So why do they keep reposting the job? What is actually happening on the recruitment/hiring side? I'm going crazy gaslighting myself. I recently got rejected from a job that was the EXACT job I did for the past five years, and LinkedIn is showing that over 1,100 people applied but the the job just got reposted.

3 years in - what is the point of cellars?

The only time I've ever gone down a cellar is either during a side quest or to fulfill a seasonal reward requirement. I still don't see the point of them?

Maybe if they move those cursed chest/cursed shrine events from Nightmare Dungeons to cellar it would allow for better pacing in Nightmare Dungeons, and there would be some reason to go into a cellar - to do a small event that ends with a strong elite mini-boss and decent treasure?

I have 15+ years professional work experience in digital advertising/marketing tech in NYC. I was laid off from a senior position in Feb '25 along with several others from a global media agency. Since then I've applied to hundred of jobs. I got interviews with three different companies by reaching out to my network and getting referrals. I did multiple rounds of interviews in all those places that went really well until they changed directions and eliminated the positions. In one case the SVP of the department was leaving so they put the position on hold until they could sort things out - that was 2 months ago. I don't see any way forward. I've exhausted my network - many can't help because they're also looking, and applying for jobs is not getting me any responses. So far I've been searching on LinkedIn and applying directly on the company websites. I've almost completely used up all my savings and probably have a couple more months before I'll need to sell my home and move my family (I don't know where). I am absolutely exhausted and desperate and I don't know what to do anymore, so if you have any advice please share it.
