What do I dress Minthara in by Act 3?

I have this headcanon whenever I get to Act 3. I swap most everyone’s clothes to something more airy/summer-y/cooler because I figure (or roleplay, whichever) that they covered most of their bodies in Act 2 because of the coldness and general yuck factor of the Shadow Curse.

The coast is obviously much warmer and so they should wear summer clothes BUT I ALWAYS struggle with Minthara. I feel like Paladin should wear a full plate but my beloved Armour of Vengence is just so bulky that I cannot get past the idea she gets all sweaty and uncomfortable in a warm climate lmao.

The issue is, however, that I can’t imagine a Paladin and let alone Minthara in a cute dress, the way I would dress my sorcs or wizards. Like, she is NOT a dress girly, I refuse to put her in a dress.

So, an obvious answer would be some sort of armor that’s not too bulky but which still conveys her standing and general vibes. I’m not putting her in basic leathers either.

I feel like badwitch69 makes a lot of those but mostly for dudes. Super cool, “dark”assassin armors that are a bit more agile while still remaining fashionable and I’d love something like this for Minthara. Any ideas?

Any more mods of dresses inspired by Bob Mackie? Or similar designs at least?

I’ve found this incredible mod by BeriSemifreddo called Aureate Arpeggio (pic 1) that’s based on Bob Mackie’s dress worn by Ann-Margret in 1977 (pic 2).

I took my own spin on it (pic 3) and I’m obsessed with the results, so I’m now on the hunt for more mods with dresses like this.

I understand it might be pretty niche to expect any more armors based specifically on Mackie’s designs, but something similar in spirit at least?

I’m especially a fan of his dainty, flowy, sparkly, and often revealing without being obscene designs as shown in picture 4, 5, and 6.

I’ll be super grateful for pointing me in direction of any mods that look kinda like what I’m looking for!

What’s rare item or content that most people don’t see?

I don’t mean rare items or hidden content that are an open “secret” at this point like the amulet of Sylvanus or Club of Hill Giant Strength or the Genie lamp in the Sorcerer’s Tower.

I mean things that, at this point in game’s life, are genuinely very rare to see or find (often due to numerous steps needed to be done to obtain them) and aren’t banged about in 567493 “Baldur’s Gate Hidden Content” lists.

I didn’t plan it, but three of them look like a gothic themed polycule… and then there’s a biker gang Karlach lmao

Is there a way to play draconic sorcerer, still be strong, but not focus on fire damage at all? Any dips?

I mean I know I can play anything, but I want to dish out a lot of damage without using fire spells. I’m just not a fan.

I’ve been trying to avoid using them this playthrough (I’ve recently arrived at Act 2 and I’m level 8) but it seems I’m limited to random AOE concentration spells and Lightning Bolt. Which, honestly, is becoming quite boring and annoying (if I twin haste at the start, which is obviously OP, all my other concentration spells just lay there unused).

I do love the idea of just playing a lightning sorc but I’ve already kinda leaned into draconic dialogue tags and especially the looks, so…

Do I dip into another class to get more lightning spells? Or what? But please be specific along with stats and at which level exactly to dip because despite playing on tactician, I’m just not good at builds lmao.

(I do NOT want to pick a class at level 1 though and then go 11 on sorc—I don’t want my dialogue tags to change)

Anyone else mods in 5670 outfits for Tav but companions get one outfit that’s THE outfit they never get changed out of?

Gale has been wearing this armor for the past two playthroughs lmao. Same with Karlach. I just transmog stats I need on them. Astarion is my beautiful special princess and he gets TWO outfits but the second one is bestowed on him only in Act 3.

Footwear that’s pretty without being ridiculous/unfitting for the setting?

I have hundreds of clothing mods but I feel like I always miss footwear for my female Tavs. It seems that the choices are:

- no actual shoes just decorations for your legs (cute but not always fitting)

- boots which is fine and fitting for the setting, but they don’t go well with a lot of daintier or elegant dresses

- freaking 5 inches high heels, platforms and some such (no judgment, I just can’t see my Tav walking in modern heels)

As such, I’m looking for some KINDA lore accurate (or at least passable) footwear that can be worn with mostly dresses/skirts and not look out of place. Maybe some pretty slippers or sandals?

I don’t care if I have to download an entire outfit or set for this, I will do it.

But please, do NOT recommend me any of the popular armor mods since I can assure you I have them all and they don’t have what I’m looking for. As an example, Basket Full of Equipment has no footwear I want to wear save for two pairs and even those aren’t exactly “it”.

Thank you in advance :)

What popular game romance did you never vibe with and why?

We’ve had a lot of discussions on favorite LIs and romance options. What about the ones you couldn’t get behind despite the hype?

I’ll be the first to say it and feel free to cast stones lol but Solas/Lavellan from Dragon Age. Weirdly enough, I love fanfics about them due to all the potential BUT the game itself just kept pissing me off.

Smartass bald man whose butt I need to kiss + oblivious Lavellan (but that’s a larger writing issue in DAI) + BEING BROKEN UP WITH + he turns out to be THE god and he’s like “sorry honey my stupid crusade is more important than you”.

And they doubled down on pure awfulness in Veilguard. All that shit he’s done and in like, what, final two minutes you can just forgive it all and go to astral jail with him forever? Piss off lmao.

More body jewelry outfits like this? Or accessories at least?

This is my current Tav and I found that I ADORE simple outfit with skin showing (but nothing too severe, no nip slips or anything) that have dainty jewelry layered on. Basically, jewelry is the outfit lmao.

In the first pic, all the body chains are actually a part of a foot wear and they go down on her legs too, around her thighs and stuff. I’m absolutely IN LOVE with it but there’s only so many times I can use that one singular piece lmao.

In the second pic, all the jewelry is a part of the outfit and I’m obsessed.

Looking for more fits like this basically OR accessories that will hopefully cover most/a lot of the body. You know, chains, bracelets, necklaces. Basically the pics but different.

Patiently waiting for game devs to stop ignoring women players and realise how big romantasy market currently is

Saw this discussed on the Larian sub and some commenters were SO right.

The heart of the discussion was that when you think of it, there are actually few western RPGs that have romances in them and out of those who have them, an even smaller amount has those romances be substantial.

Because let’s be real here, in the past two decades, when you ask for RPG games that have romances, you get the exact same answer: Bioware, Owlcat, or Baldur’s Gate 3. But most of us have played through those 25 times, so that leaves you with… pretty much nothing.

Sure, you can recommend a few more obscure titles like GreedFall or claim games like Pillars 2 have romance but you know damn well that romance is negligible.

And the core of the issue is that save for Bioware who pretty much pioneered extensive romances in their RPGs and a few studios that followed the formula, player romances are sparse because they don’t seem worth the time to execs and devs.

And why would they be, right? Women are the main target market for those and who cares about women. They won’t bring in much money in sales now, will they?

Well, being realistic here, women do bring in a LOT of money. The romantasy genre, a female-dominated market, is absolutely BOOMING right now and has been for a while.

And while I have no qualms that most devs will ever do something for women just because we deserve it, I know that once they realise there’s so much money in romance, we’ll start getting more RPGs with solid romances.

Here’s to hoping anyway.

Are there any mods that give me a variety of cosmetic weapons that are spawnable in the Tutorial Chest?

I feel like there’s a ton of fun armor mods but very few aesthetic weapons that go along with it.

I’d love a mod of, say, 5 different staffs or bows that have unique looks. I don’t care for their stats, I’ll just use transmog.

I have found like one mod which kinda offers it but they don’t offer the tutorial chest spawn and it’s a must for me.

Do mods like this even exist?

Truly obscure lore you might not have known about, based on now-defunct CDN articles

I’ve been, once again, digging through long-defunct Cerberus Daily News that’d run news articles on ME2’s loading screens for a year after the game launched.

All the events take place between 2185 and 2186 (so, during our time with Shepard):

- There exist at least four more sapient races that aren’t shown in games or only mentioned in passing.

Raloi, the avian race, that’s talked about on the news at the beginning ME3 (monologue plays as you enter Spectre office for the first time).

Unnamed spacefaring race whose planet’s core exploded. The explosion kills 5 billion people. A singular child survives as it’s ejected into space in a pod. Human ship intercepts them. Nothing more is known about the race other than the fact they breathe mostly nitrogen.

Unnamed race that transferred its consciousness into a super-computer after their system’s star went supernova. The race has been floating on a ship for over 8 thousands years. A human scientist interacts with the race and eventually allows one of its members to be uploaded into his body and for him to be uploaded into their virtual world, so they can experience the galaxy. Said uploaded alien pleads for asylum on Citadel, which leads to hundreds of volunteers saying they’ll happily swap places with the aliens in their virtual world.

The kirik. They’re insects with biotic abilities that start communicating with human explorers via biotic pulses.

- Seven sapient species died off completely due to nuclear wars, as discovered by salarians. Some of them were spacefaring.

- A turian colony on Taetrum experiences a massive terrorist attack (dubbed Vallum Blast) when a ship at FTL speeds is flown into a city. It kills over 100k inhabitants. The people responsible are turian separatists. It leads to a small civil war that ends when a turian general agrees to a duel with a separatist leader and wins.

- Turians commonly commit suicides to preserve their honor.

- Turians play a sport called “clawball”.

- Turians have gizzards.

- Krogans play a sport called “kowla”. One instance of such game leaves 3 dead and 14 injured.

- Asari have a huge diamond (21k carats) that they sent on a galactic trip, so it can be blessed by various religious leaders. One of them is a human Pope.

- Students of a Thessian university throw a pretend-to-be-human party. It goes sideways when they all dress up as human dictators. The mentioned ones are, for example, Hitler and Pol Pot.

- Asari and volus enjoy Valentine’s Day and it becomes popular among their people. The reason is specifically because holiday mixes “reproduction and commerce.”

- A krogan plays for a human football league.

- A generation ship of humans dubbed Manswell Expedition has been sent into space 70 years before the discovery on Mars. Their colony is found in 2185 by asari explorers. The humans are highly aggressive because all the galactic events, including humans becoming a part of the galactic community, happened without them knowing. Eventually, half of them decide to join other Council races and half decide to stay back since they fear all the changes are too much for them.

- Cerberus is using steganographic messages in news broadcasts to communicate. The messages include, for example, information on what amount to money send to which cell or which target to attack.

- Earth nations carry out a Ford v. Huerta (as in the hospital in ME3 and a following interaction you can overhear) trial focused on the President Huerta and the viability of his term after he experienced a stroke and has been dead for an hour and a half before his brain functions have been transferred into a computer. It’s ruled his term was legitimate despite the above which leads to massive protests on Earth.

- Human graduate student dies while doing his thesis research on Virmire. The crabs kill him.

- The planet Garvug mentioned by Glyph in ME3 has been a stage of a corporation-backed coup. One of those corporations is Binary Helix and the coup turns into a war with the corporations, eventually, winning.

- Citadel has its own excessive cop violence episode when a C-sec officer beats an innocent man to death.

- One of the popular body modifications is called “psyotics” and it includes injecting a capsule under one’s skin that reacts to various audio frequencies and makes the body glow. The capsule dissolves after a day.

- Asari longevity is caused by a substance their body produces called telomerase. Attempts are being made by a crazy human surgeon to extract it and slow human aging process.

- Attempts have been made by an asari scientist to prolong vorcha lifespan. The project is being funded by Blood Pack.

- Varrens are akin to priced horses in space, as far as cultivation goes. Breeding rights for one of them were sold for 7.3 million credits.

- Geologists on planet Sifurman discovered a fossil of the “largest creature in the galaxy to ever walk on land”. The creature had 4 legs and weighed up to 280 tons.

- There’s a galaxy-wide lottery called Lucky-88. The biggest win ever was 1.7 billion credits.

- Asari had krogan slaves.

- Humans find life on Jupiter’s moon, Europa.

- A treatment exists that allows dextro and levo species to share cuisines. It’s expensive, lasts only 24 hours, and you must vomit all you’ve eaten before it wears off.

- A nanotech diet named The Skale exists in the universe. You swallow a device that monitors consumption and expunges everything not within the parameters. The intent is to help those with food allergies and other gastrointestinal issues but instead it gets hacked very quickly to remove all programming shackles. Tens of humans and volus die and the diet gets recalled.

- Synthetic childrearing is common in-universe.

- Turian and human armies routinely train together.

- There’s a drug becoming popular by 2186. It’s called Creeper and comes from food mold that gives people hallucinations.

- One of the human colonies operates solely on a barter system.

- Traffic can occur in space with long queues for key Mass Relays.

What do you head-canon to fill in the missing bits of lore or simply because it makes sense to you?

I know that we’re shown in the Shadow Broker dossiers that Wilson was his agent and attempted to end Project Lazarus for that reason but I kinda always thought TIM, and Miranda, who operate in a similar way to SB, would have discovered his plan. And because their goals partially aligned, they let him unleash the mechs. This works for a few reasons:

- we know for a fact that Cerberus’s modus operandi is often to kill off everyone involved in a project if they want to keep it under wraps/fully control the narrative (Miranda is obviously spared and in on it because she’s a super valuable asset)

- a controlled crisis situation works as a great field taste to check Shepard’s battle readiness and ensure they were rebuilt exactly as they were before (it doesn’t tip Shepard off either that they’re being tested, as a regular mission would, so results are more believable)

- the ensuing chaos allows Miranda to take out Wilson easily and thus kill off the last person with the detailed know-how on Project Lazarus other than her

I know this might not be a perfect logic but that’s precisely why it’s a head-canon and it works for me.

We genuinely need to stop worrying so much about offending authors

I see people here freaking out that they offended an author all the time. And every time I click on the post hoping I’ll see some juicy drama, I’m met with the most inoffensive, mild comment that somehow triggered the author into behaving like a wild hog.

AND the comment section under the post always has at least a few people going “well, if an author has maturity of a 10-year-old Fortnite player and mental resilience of a wet tissue paper, they can misconstruct this perfectly polite comment into being extremely offensive, so keep that in mind when commenting in the future.”

Genuinely, who cares. Who cares. Why do we try to mitigate behavior of random people online who get offended when you breathe wrong?

You can’t control how others behave. You can’t control how they react. The only thing you can and should want to control is how YOU behave. And if you can stand there and honestly say that you did your best to be polite, appreciative, and adhering by common sense comment interaction norms (so, not coming under someone’s work to be a dick) then that’s ALL that matters. Period.

I beg, stop wasting your mental energy on worrying that you offended someone if the above is true. Anyone can get offended over anything. There’s no point in trying to dissect if you should’ve jumped through 25 additional hoops to please a random author.

If they react badly to an innocent comment, just move on. It doesn’t require analysis. The only person losing out on this behavior is them. There are hundreds of thousands of authors out there who will be jumping in joy for the type of comment you left.
