The fraud of some of these “therapists” who claim to have doctorates is insane and is becoming a HUGE problem

Hi everyone I am a trained as a research psychologist in behavioral neuroscience. This was an incredibly competitive and long journey. I have decided to start coaching (I also teach undergrad but prefer a flexible schedule w small kids). As I’ve branched into this world I am discovering coaches but also people licensed as therapists fraudulently claiming to be clinical psychologists. This is insane to me. Example of two people. Teralyn Sell and Cali Estes. Has anyone heard of these people and why are they allowed to carry on with these lies? I just emailed Cali Estes and she told me she’s never heard of a free PhD 😂. I’m literally dying because everyone in academia knows that a PhD should be fully funded. Who are these people???!!!

Update: it looks like I have offended the PsyD population and I apologize for that. I am coming from research psychology and I will say that most people I know who do PsyD programs do so knowing that they are making a big financial decision and therefore know that many PhD programs are funded. My point was my shock at hearing someone in the world of psychology in general who has never heard of a free PhD. I have a ton of respect for people who opt into a PsyD knowing that they don’t want academia but I assume many of you were advised on the difference between PhD and PsyD…the cost differences etc.

Coaching as an experimental psychologist

Biopsychologist or behavioral neuroscientist

Hi all,
I have a PhD in behavioral neuroscience (experimental field of psychology). Wondering if I should call myself a biopsychologist or behavioral neuroscientist as I branch into coaching. I am very clear that I am a research psychologist not clinical but people don’t seem to know behavioral neuroscience is a field of psychology.

Just want to be able to have one drink and sleep

Help!! Okay so everything I read about alcohol and sleep I already know. I know it’s bad for us…I literally am just asking to be able to drink 1-2 once a month and still sleep that night. I will have one drink at 4 and when I go to bed I will do my meditation and get tired only to drift off and then have my heart race. Then I spiral into a panic for hours and unless I take a unisom I will be up the entire night.

Alcohol and sleep

If I have ONE drink I do not sleep at all. I will have a drink at 4pm and be tired by 10 go up to bed and my body will drift then my heart will start racing and I will suddenly be wired. Anyone else have this? I’ll take a unisom at 12 and maybe fall asleep by 2am. Without the unisom I will literally see the sun rise.

Hi everyone I have worked with social psychologists developmental psychologists etc etc and it’s very clear these are people with PhD in experimental psychology. My question is, why if I got a PhD in behavioral neuroscience in psychology department why am I not considered a neuropsychologist? Why is it all of the sudden the assumption that neuropsych is clinical?
